The most enjoyable part of the job was the people you worked with, for the most part. The shores is a sketchy and shady place to work, unless desperate I wouldn’t work here. For reasons being of entitled and power hungry management and supervisors, it will seem great full of promises and reach advancement. However that is not the case, most people don’t even receive one pay increase in a years time frame, barley any training provided, staff put in multiple dangerous situations alone on night shift still no hire for secondary persons, after being told and begged many times. phones not answered  by security after front desk staff leaves, leaving guests upset, rooms are dated with no AC and we are listing them as luxury rooms, that are smelly and rundown. And we are falsely advertising on our own website outdated photos of units with fire places when they don’t have fire places in the standards anymore, even though updated photos were posted and now these pictures have come back, company seems like it’s going under or something fishy is up, selling off water front properties suddenly for very cheap. If you want a waterfront property now is your time to shine. Management will go behind your back act lovely to your face and try to fire without cause and when asked to explain why; not having a reasoning there because there is none. The job is done correctly and properly but supervisor is not reporting clearly to upper management. On situations and when enlightened head management is in shock or acts it. Management try’s to play victim when asked on anything in regards to an error on their end or an outstanding issue. No responsibility taken and will then try to put and flip blame on you somehow, and there is just no communication, no they don’t do background checks, so if you have a sketchy background this is the perfect place for you, management will put you in dangerous health and safety situations with no remorse or warning. place is disorganized  and crumbling to the ground. I wish new hires luck. Another thing to be very cautious with, you will more then likely most days have to work overtime, or not get a break, especially doing physical labour for so many hours to get things done because we don’t hire enough staff as stated above . So when we don’t take our breaks they are still deducted, and don’t tell you as much, they will strain you of all you have. They also advertise overtime pay, but good luck getting it. Overall I wish new hires luck and to be very careful of the games played behind closed doors. 

Everyone is genuinely  so nice, kind and supportive each other and  always goes above and beyond.  Great team work shows to guests and everyone does their best not only within their scope of work but also trying to help each other in any possible way.   It’s always people who are making the difference and it is nice feeling to be surrounded by caring, supportive and respectful team.  Regardless of past several ownership and management changes in the past years, some of managers and staff has remained working for a long time and developed their own ownership mind towards company which is highly respected.  I trust these people are backbone of supporting team spirit.  Also with new guest services team members lead by a caring guest services manager and newly opening restaurant team coming on board,  I’m looking forward to be part of this positive changes at the Resort in near future! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
It is at a beautiful location 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Demands of the job are unrealistic. The GM treats all staff poorly and doesn’t adhere to Canadian Labour laws.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is hierarchical, the departments are divided and workload in one department is high, while in another is non existent. 

GM is not approachable and it is not clear who the supervisors are.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive at 8am and go non stop until 1 pm at the earliest. Then take a half hour unpaid lunch between 1 to 2:30 pm and then non stop physical work until 4:30 pm

New owners who live outside the country taking decisions.. no care for any employee even management "everyone is replacable, overworked and underpaid .

Ownership changes too often meaning plan and direction change too often.

New management and owner dont care about staff , not sure of goal in 2 years goal changed 3 times and we had to redo our plan and strategy 3 times

Restaurant and spa been closed for 2 years due to new owner and his ask for new tenants

Outsourcing instead of promoting from within

Company focus is bottom dollar not staff or even guests !

Management was terrible. Didn't pay employees properly.
If management messed something up they'd leave it for employees to deal with in the morning. 
Constantly changed schedule, so you never had a consistent one. 
Management didn't know how to do basic tasks at front desk, meaning when they did work it to 'help out' they would mess with something and create a whole slew of other problems.

Mismanaged, poor moral, no teamwork,  Bad experience
Started at 7:30 in the morning on call 24/7 - some 18-20 hr days
Management was erratic and disorganized
Co workers didnt stay long for one reason or another
best part of the job was leaving - did not get paid out what they were supposed to pay

Collaborative environment with strong focus on team work and supporting other departments. Pace of work varies during the year due to seasonal variations in business levels which is typical for tourism sector. The guest and staff interaction is most enjoyable and keeps every day fresh and interesting.

Guest based focus and good management team that interact with the staff.
Salary is bit low or barely above minimum wage.
Too many times has this property changed ownership its unstable 

Very Disorganized culture. Management in transition resulting in disorganized working conditions. Poor pay for work done.

Management treats you ver poorly and will lie to you. You are not paid correctly at all. And they don’t always follow labour laws. If your looking for a happy positive work environment this sadly isn’t it.
