The management is pretty awful, and do not care about your issues.

Throughout your training, they pride themselves on helping, and looking out for employees. In reality, they take EXTREME issue with you needing help.

Most training is online, aside from maybe 2 days. This leads to problems if you aren’t digitally inclined, or in my case, did not have a reliable electronic to do said training.

My in person training was good, I did like the trainer I was working with, and they did their best to make sure we were prepared. However, the problem is the training they give you is not related to your site, at all.

Because of this, you’re not really prepared for the situations you deal with on site. 

There is on the job training given, but, it’s supplied by your supervisor on site. As such, the quality of your training is dependent on them. Unfortunately, mine ranges from mediocre to “somewhat” okay.

I find they don’t take into consideration that you may not be experienced in security work, and seem to somewhat escalate patients on site. This leads to stress, as I would rather avoid a hands on situation, as it is dangerous to yourself, obviously.

This leads to distrust within management, as you don’t want to report situations to them, as the patient is usually brushed off, rudely more often than not, or is helped, but consistently gets berated. This isn’t helped by the fact that specific patients on our site are easily irritated, meaning extreme caution should be used when interacting with these specific patients.

The local law enforcement are of no help either, when called if necessary. They seem to just not care at all about the situation you called them in for, and rush it ASAP, leading to more work for you as a guard. The paramedics are nice though, they really do have empathy for the patients, and seem to understand when you speak with them about situations they are called for.

On every shift, I’m told to do things that were definitely NOT in the original job description. Work that makes no sense for a security guard to deal with. As such, you constantly have the patients and staff of the site speaking with you about situations you didn’t see or prevent, because you’re being told to do something completely unrelated to your job.

They go through guards like candy, and as such, my site is understaffed. Leading to long work days, which trails to awful mental/physical health due to stress, of which you are criticized for asking for a day off to recuperate your body/mind. 

Overall, not a great place by my experience. Very disappointed, I heard great things about them, and turned out it was all lies. 

I recommend it only if you absolutely REQUIRE a paycheck. If not, pass. Bound to be better work elsewhere.



- Upper management have no clue what they’re doing. Often times upper management, lower management and the employees are completely disconnected.
- You’re treated like the scum on the bottom of a shoe from many of the employees at the hospitals. Compared to doctors, nurses, RTs, RMTs, SWs, etc… You’re worthless.
- Be prepared to deal with stuff far outside the scope of security. Often times people will think security has such a broad scope that any concern could be directed your way.
- Unsafe job. You’re not provided with proper training or the proper equipment to be safe at your job. When you ask any management why that is, they’ll make it sound like a funding issue.

My final recommendation is to find a job elsewhere. This job will suck the life out of you, till the next thing you know you end up working there for 35yrs like many of the other unfortunate souls who fall victim to the trap.

The company's approach to onboarding raises significant concerns. While the mandatory training in Management of Aggressive Behaviour and Use of Force is essential and highly specialized, it is concerning that these courses are unpaid despite being prerequisites for the role. Furthermore, the fact that these certifications are exclusively offered through the company—with no alternative sources such as widely recognized programs like security guard or first aid training—places employees in a difficult position. This policy could be perceived as exploitative, as it imposes an uncompensated burden on employees for certifications they cannot obtain elsewhere, effectively limiting their options.

A typical day involved overseeing site operations, assisting visitors, and supporting team members to ensure everything ran smoothly. I learned how to manage a team in a fast-paced environment and improve my problem-solving and communication skills.

Management was generally supportive, though the job could be demanding at times. The workplace culture emphasized professionalism, safety, and teamwork.

The hardest part of the job was handling high-pressure situations and resolving conflicts quickly, but it was also a valuable learning experience. The most enjoyable part was working with a dedicated team and helping people feel safe and supported.

A typical workday involves working shifts without breaks, with low pay compared to expectations. Management arbitrarily lays off employees, contributing to a high turnover rate. The work culture is negative, marked by gossip and insincerity, where colleagues speak ill of each other while feigning friendliness. Standing for an entire shift without adequate breaks until the last 30 minutes, and lacking appreciation, You're required to undergo a 40-hour training but are compensated for only 8 hours by the company, which is unjust and undervalues the time and effort invested in the training culminates in a decision to depart from this unsatisfactory company, with no intention of returning.

Management is based in Lethbridge and we rarely see our supervisors. Unable to provide adequate safety for employees. It takes an extended amount of time to get broken equipment replaced that are vital to the job. CSM also does not reply to Paladin employee emails. There is very little support, and they display that. The supervisors have even discussed their unhappiness with the CSM to Paladin Guards. I was also underpaid for 6 months of my employement. Paladin was paying me at the incorrect hourly rate.  My CSM also did not offer retro-pay after the issue was mentioned. Overall, do not recommend unless to be used as a steppingstone. Only good for short term employees. 

As they say, they are one of Canada‘s best manage companies, One which I have a funny feeling that they’ve managed to buy issuing logo, their managers are power-hungry, unforgiving and lying. You get hired as a security guard you’re given one days of training not even adequate for that site. and then they move you around without providing additional training for other sites and and don’t get me sorted if you have a mental health because they don’t care. In fact, they’ll blame you for having a mental health issues and they’ll fire you for it. they’ll make up lies just to fire you stay away from this company as far as possible, and go work somewhere else

It was okay at the beginning. They pay for certification as long as you finish your contract, but the managers and supervisors have the usual problems most companies have, and issues don't get resolved. I was doing some extra training online to try and advance my career, but I was stuck in my position since it was hard to fill and I noticed my manager using the supervisor training on me to stall for time rather than fixing the problem. We were constantly having to replace SOs so we were always having to work overtime to cover an empty shift or two. The managers were chummy which is probably why things were allowed to remain in such a poor state.

It's hard to count the areas that need improvement. The majority of the employees are borderline useless, and the management does little to fix issues beyond relocation. The 2 day 2 night rotation works well enough, shame it's just so they don't need to pay night shift pay. Favoritism to the point of retracting a job offer after an employee accepts because another asked for it. Difficult to work a second job (which you will need to live on the east coast) on account of the rotating schedule. Management meddles far too much in scheduling, making it confusing for the scheduling department and for officers.

It's not a terrible job. Depending on your site you are usually working independently. But management has absolutely 0 care for you. You are just another guard. The pay reflects that. They really do not value their employees at all. Especially (again depending on site) you can be dealing with aggressive, violent, and dangerous individuals, the pay is almost insulting. If you want a job that is pretty easy most of the time and you are looking to get into the law enforcement field I guess this isn't the worst place to start. But don't expect much and get out as fast as possible.
