Started working for Palliser Furniture on June.1 2015, worked a full week ( 40 hours ) and Was sent home sick the following week because i had the Flu. I missed 2 days of work ( with Managers Approval ), and provided a Doctors Note. I was then called the next day before my shift and told that it was best we part ways...
I said " What? How can you do that? Im at home sick, was sent home by Your Manager, and i have a 5.5 month old child to Support and Rent to pay.... How can you do this ?? "

" Well, we have needs too, here at Palliser and have decided its best to part ways".

For a company that Truly "Cares" about their employees , as previous reviews have stated, I find it very hard to believe unless you've been there longer than 5 years, They dont really care at all.

Found it funny how in the Orientation they stated how 
" Most of our new recruits only last a week and then THEY quit "

Most likely, " Most of our new recruits are up to standard, but we just dont like them, so we get rid of them".

I was fired because i was Colourblind and some of THEIR employees didnt Tag the furniture, as their job required, so I was unable to tell the fabric from which is which.

Totally unreal, Cant believe they would fired someone with a 5.5 Month of baby without notice .

I would recommend not working for this company.

For $11 an hour. The attention to detail and quality of work deserves at least 12.50

In the beginning the factory was in operation 24 hours a day. After an initial orientation I was on the graveyard shift. When we arrived we would check to see where the shift we were replacing were at, check to see what orders were coming up and get the knives and such we would need for the night. Some supervisors and lead hands were nice while others were not so nice. The same can be said for co-workers, especially when one was from a different race from all the others. The hardest part was getting through slow nights and the most enjoyable was going home.

A typical day at work is lots of administrative work. In my role, the department supervisor relies very heavily on me. I've gained lots of knowledge while being with the company but that has been the main plus side.
They will low ball your salary in your offer and raises and bonuses are poor. There are no pay level structures, so salaries are not based fairly on the jobs and skill sets needed to do the job. The benefits are good but could be better. The factory workers make the absolute bare minimum, with their raises being the bare minimum as well and have their hours taken away due to lack of work. You will only do well here if you have a degree behind you or are joining the sales team.

My day would start at 7 to build furniture , upholstering , learned to sew, wrapped, moved up in the company. Management was half decent to work and deal with, co-workers was good to work with. Job was not hard,   Company down sized and we all were forced to take bye outs.Company was really good to work for and advance up ,

Unless you’re a brown-noser, you won’t go far or be apart of the clique culture. Awful management who ask for the world and do not compensate for it. They treat you to lay offs, year after year, to cover for their horrible money management, constantly kicking their loyal workers to the curb and keeping their friends close by. Yet always posting for job hires, that should tell you all you need to know right there. Run in the opposite direction from Palliser Furniture.

Nothing it was not stressful at all even I would like to go back and work there

Making best products and qualified ones 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday except Saturdays and Sundays

Excellent can-do and family atmosphere. Upholstery ownership is very supportive and not intrusive. Deadlines can be very challenging. Hours can sometimes be long for managers but fair. Benefits are few, the pay was lesser than average leading to much more training green operational team members. Also no pension was included the years I worked there. A great place to work overall. I learned a lot too.

i worked for this company for almost 15 years, it was a good work palce,i really enjoyed working alongside my coworkers. they help you learn and grow everyday.sometimes it could get very hectic and stressful. but you always got a helping hand , no one left anyone stuck.i did lots of multi tasking.

Benefits are good, work environment is reasonable. Unfortunately it does not treat everyone the same . Focuses on one person’s shortcomings, while ignoring another worker which constantly coming late , breaking safety rules , or not working. I feel I was unfairly treated.

As one of the piece worker at the company I can say that everyday is a challenge, and you need lots of patience for doing this kind of job. You also learned and practise the quality of work. This company is amazing and the most enjoyable part on this job is the home time.
