Pan Am Games

Working this shfit was a nightshift position which was a good experience for me at the time. I had to work with a team of other guards and a management system that was based around us working and guarding our post' . The idea was to be the person that watched out for assets like generators and cables that would power the entire location of Pan Am activities which are often the target of theft. The shift was a 12 hour shift that was split with another team member i worked with majority of my pan am experience. the hardest art of the job was knowing when to not give visitors/contractors a hard time at the point of access. visitors to the site as there were subject to new rules and objectives the guards were to enforce to them each passing day which could cause a bit of confusion at time but once communicated with management everything would be worked out .

Working at Pan Am taught a lot of different skills and helped me even more to develop my communication skills. Before i enter the work place i would already be smiling before I entered the work place and directing them to find different locations. Typical day at work entailed me walking around at some points explaining to customers where the stage location or event is taking place, also I would explain to them the upcoming schedule for the games. My co-workers were amazing people to work with as we would help each other in different circumstances. The hardest part of the job would be  some customers didn't speak any English and I would have a hard time searching for someone that could translate and help the customer with their problem. The most enjoyable part of the job i would say was being able to help others. Overall it was an amazing experience.

It was an excellent experience.I improve my communication in English. I got very good relations with my staff. We work together. We reach the goals.

A workday. First  I greeted my team. After I checked if the previous supervisor left some important information for the shift that I supervised. Also I checked if any important personality would come to the venue. I communicated the works instructions to the team on work day. I elaborated the work schedule and rotations during the day. I checked that everything was in order before starting work. I gave my words of support to my team every day before start to work. At the end of the work day we talked of any situation or experience feedback, and to finish, We applaud and congratulate for a good job well done as a team together.

Being apart of the Pan Am Games TO15 Staff was a great experience. I was able to help manage transportation of all athletes and important country delegates. During my time as a transportation supervisor I learned routes and short cuts of the city. I was able to aid different teams to their practices and competitions. Pan am meaning Pan American, the hardest part of the job was trying to translate or help athletes that could only speak Spanish.  The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting people from different parts of the world and making their job of being an international athlete less stressful by having them not worry about how they would get to and from practices and competitions

Being a volunteer for the pan am and the parapan am games has been a wonderfull, once in a lifetime experience.. All my fellow volunteers were some of the best people to work with and our managers were well aware, concerned and involved with all of us.. I was at the airport volunteering with the event services team. we would welcome athletes, officials and games family, and make sure that they are succesfuly taken to their respective accomodations. It was an inspirational experience watching all the parapan am athletes.. The hardest part of the job was the long standing hours on peak days.. The most enjoyable part was meeting all the athletes first hand..

A typical day would involve where you would be placed for the day and what station you were working at. You would work at the station for the day, this could be checking tickets, escorting people to their seats or to the stands to watch the baseball games. I learned how to interact with people and communicate well. The management was good always making sure you got lunch and breaks. The workplace culture was good because everyone was positive and people were respectful of each other. The hardest part of this job was being outside all day in the sun. The most enjoyable part was meeting people from all over the world.

The typical day at work at the Pan-am games was managing and encouraging my team to keep quota of rooms to be finish at a certain time. I learned that you have to have patience towards co-workers as well as clients, also have a respect level for everybody. The hardest part of being a supervisor at this job was pushing my team to finish on time, which they always did. The most enjoyable thing about this job was meeting new people and different cultures from around the world.

Working at the Pan am games this summer was AMAZING! I had a lot of fun working there. It was always loud because of the fans cheering on there countries. I learned that soccer is a really big sport that brings in all the sports fans, worldwide. The management for Pan am games was decent, they had some confusions but they always held it together. The hardest part about the job was the long lines. There were a lot people always buying food, no matter what; even if the game is going on. The most thing I'd enjoyed about the job was, watching the games for free.

Working as a team, we would be responsible for our inventory and marketing setup. Communicating with the proper contacts at each event location was important. We would engage large groups of consumers, creating brand awareness, providing information, and selling merchandise. Overall, management was helpful and informative. Keeping a positive attitude and engaging as many people as possible was both the hardest and most enjoyable parts of this job!

No one knew what they were going to be doing when they checked in for their shift. Management would have no idea where we were supposed to be, how we were supposed to do things, or even cared if we were doing it right. The security guards (me) and supervisors basically had to make it up as we went along, but then at times would get reprimanded for it, even though we were almost never given any previous instructions at all.
