If you are looking for a place to work that cares about their staff this is not the place for you. 

You can forget about a staff rate for rooms. Associates rarely ever get to pick a time to stay at the hotel and the rate they are given is ridiculous. 

The place is falling apart and they do not want to fix it or put the money back in to the business. With a little TLC the place would actually be okay. Leaks everywhere in the building its hard to keep up with putting buckets around sometimes. 

As a guest I would not suggest staying at the Pan Pacific. For the price you can stay somewhere else way better.

Valet vehicles
Greet guest and set up valet services and luggage services.
Work with a team of bellman to stay ahead on the task list.
Deliver luggage to rooms and give any answer questions from guests
Great tips and porterage.
Hardest part of the job is prioritizing what must be done first and when we are behind on the task list.
What I really enjoyed about the job is my co-workers and answering questions from guests.

The Pan Pacific Hotel was the best job for so many reasons.
I started when I was 20 and worked there until I was 30 and was given alot of opportunity for advancement.
The fitness centre and spa were an exclusive club available only to 300 outside member, which I maintained.
I managed a large staff of receptionists, personal trainers, massage therapist, estheticians and spa attendants.
The workplace culture was very positive as the employees were happy to be part of it.

Great clients, and guests fantastic location and views of the seawall and coastal mountains

Management was under pressure from owners. Not really able to implement ideas, as owners not very open to feedback

Co-workers were definitely one of the reasons that made the hotel.

Hardest part of the job is not having the right amount of staff to always provide the service that the hotel markets itself as.

Great staff, peers, and hotel guests.

It is unfortunate that management are focused on one part of the business only. Rooms. Nothing else matters to them as demonstrated by their actions. They have no clue how to operate food and beverage or how to manage or communicate effectively with people/staff. Hopefully someone who knows what they are doing will buy it and make it great again. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
As this is a unionised position pay and job security is better

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The weekly hours are minimum and put on call shifts for juniors

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment can be described as the rule of senior staff in union rather than the management and culture is affected by this

Was a good place to work. Enjoyed the relationships I made with other workers through out the years. Learn a lot and gained experience. However, due to the lack of respect and appreciation from management, I felt my worth was better else where.   


I truly appreciate my time at this company. I've had the pleasure of collaborating with some fantastic individuals, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, working at the Pan Pacific Hotel has been a wonderful journey.

We are just a numbered.if you can stay away and find other opportunities do it.they are unfair to the employee hope Pan pacific Vancouver future guest read this and stop supporting a company who doesn't value their employees.

Pan pacific hotel gave me a lot of lessons and experience in housekeeping/hospitality industry. Great standards and procedures which I can apply to my future job.
