Panago Pizza

Pango pizza was my first commercial job. Meaning I wasn't hired by friend or family, I was hired by someone I didn't know. Panago had very friendly staff and community, and my boss was a kind man. He was flexible and cared about his workers and the work they produced. You can work as much or as little a week as you need and can change which days you work anytime. So what's wrong? Working in the food industry is probably one of the most dreadful experiences I have ever had. See, working in a place like Panago, the workload is an uncapped variable. There is no telling how much work you would do that shift because people's desire for pizza is an unpredictable thing. This leads to hours being flexible. I would be scheduled for 5 pm-9 pm (I worked part-time as a student in high school) and would not get off until 10:30 pm sometimes. Staying late was not of my choice, and I would have probably lost my job had I not complied. Working on a Friday is probably the worst thing I've experienced, and I did it consistently for a year. Fridays everyone wants pizza and it feels like you're the only pizza store in all of North America. I oftentimes would laugh at the fact that I was doing all this for minimum wage. I personally like cutting the pizzas, I became good at it, so often I would be the one cutting the pizzas. On busy nights there would be two ovens, each with room for 2 pizzas meaning 4 pizzas coming at you at once. It means you have to cut, box, and organize pizzas, in about 30 seconds, before the others start burning. It leaves you about 7 seconds to grab and cut pizzas. Doable, but difficult. Sometimes undoable if you're not on your A-game. Sometimes there would be 3 ovens, only happened once. It was crazy as 6 pizzas came at me with again only 30 seconds to cut all 6 pizzas. That's 5 seconds, which is most certainly not enough time. That was a tough day. Still only got $12.65/h. There's nothing wrong with minimum wage, it just feels so unrewarding putting everything you have into your work, and getting the same amount of pay. Actually building the pizzas (putting toppings on) is daunting. I never did it on a busy day because I would mess up pizzas, or quite frankly, was too slow. I mean if I'm cutting a pizza every 7 seconds, somebody is making them that fast. It's crazy. Get paid minimum wage to do some gruelling work, except it doesn't sound so bad cause you're just "making pizza" not hauling rebar. I have worked construction and would much rather do that, than work at Panago again. 

tl;dr, Panago pays minimum wage, and has uncertain scheduled hours. Meaning you cannot plan anything within an hour of your scheduled off time, as Panago may decide they need your time. The work that you do does not feel like it's worth doing for minimum wage, as some nights you will be putting every ounce of effort into your job, and still, be paid minimum wage.

Do not work here! I was recently fired from the call centre in my city. This is the second job of 2016 that I have been fired from under three months probation. One in the Spring and one in November. I'm sick and tired of employers making stupid decisions. How hard is it to ask to be a permanent employee with a company? The first time around was enough of a blow and slap in the face. I'm a fed up ex employee. I felt screwed over and being fired isn't something I will forgive very easily. My last serious job was two years ago, I have goals that I want to achieve in life and the whole hire me and fire is getting old and tiring. I'm out of the job for whatever lame reasons and the employers are still employed, where's the justice. I'm a good employee with good values and dedication for crying out loud! I know I do a heck of a good job unlike some people. I was asked by an employer once why I have long employment gaps on my resume, well what does she think the above mentioned is one of many reasons I see wrong. Good luck with my future endeavours, what an understatement! Employers have no idea first hand what a job hunter is up against, I get fired in five minutes or less.

A typical day at work involves coming into the building, going upstairs to the call center floor and grabbing your headset and heading to your computer. Making sure you're all hooked up and logged in, you'll start receiving calls from people looking for you to place their pizza order. Your job is to make sure the customer's order is made right. I learned extreme patience with people, most people called not even knowing what they wanted or what was on the menu. There was lots of repeating yourself within an hour or even half an hour and you couldn't get mad at them for always asking. The management was great, the supervisors were always there to help with any questions you had, they made the job enjoyable. The co-workers were also awesome, lots of students who were there to work. There wasn't much time to talk to them or get to know them as Panago was always busy and you had to be able to attend to them. The hardest part of the job was that all the calls became repetitive after a while and lots of times, it got so busy, you never actually got a break which caused a lot of sore throats. But the most enjoyable part made up for it; the most flexible job with any schedule and free pizza on pay days!

A typical work day consists of making dough, prepping all ingredients for the day (vegetables, meat, sauces, etc...) making pizza and doing deliveries. It is a very fast paced environment where you are on your feet all day. This has made me very efficient with time management as well as being able to deal with customers in any situation.

Management is amazing, making sure everyone is doing their job properly and efficiently. I always know when I am doing a good job and they are not afraid to tell you when something needs to be changed or done differently. I respect that a lot as I am the kind of person that takes a lot of pride in what I do. No matter what it is.

The most enjoyable part of the job for me is delivery. I love driving and I am very good with direction, finding places/people. I do not get overwhelmed when it comes to finding an address that might be hard to find. In addition, dealing with customers on the street or at their home has made me very good with daily interaction with customers as well as correcting any mistakes or dealing with issues the customer may be concerned about.

Overall I learned a great deal about time management, customer relations. Two things I take pride in for any company I work for.

On most days at work I have a dinner rush which is the most stressful part of the day. After the dinner rush, I prep food items for the following day is done as well as clean the store.
The main skills that I learned at Panago, is being aware of all the orders coming in and out of the store and being able to quickly adapt to rush times. Other skills that I learned is slapping, building and cutting pizzas and multi tasking those tasks while supervising other co-workers. 
The management of Panago was great because they were approachable and listened when problems occured. 
Most co-workers that I had were hard workers and were fun to be around.
The hardest part of the job, is making sure that the product comes out well without any blunders given to our customers.
What was the most enjoyable part of the job was being able to laugh and joke around with your fellow co-workers. The people are very nice and are awesome people to work with.

A typical day at Panago consists of prepping the ingredients for the product being offered at the store and all other employee duties along the way, such as timely delivery to a customer (in and out of store), cleaning, arranging, inventory etc.
Working fulltime as a main day driver, I learned to multitask during busy hours, usually the rush hour as well as weekends. I also had supervising shifts which helped to develop my management and communication skills.
Awesome management. Easy to get along with and get the job done in a very efficient way. 
The hardest part of the job is to keep the percentage of late deliveries at a zero or low level. Specially, when the store experiencing busy call volume. The main goal is to get quality product to a customer in a timely manner.
The most enjoyable part of the job is communication between employees. By that I mean friendly relationship which does not affect efficiency negatively.

Was responsible for:
    * All store paperwork
    *Deposits and counting store safe and cash float
     *Responsible for allproduct ordering
    * Trained all new staff, and up-trained current staff
    * Provided  coaching and feedback to staff when nessessary
    * Handed customer complaints with empathy 
    *Performed daily inventory on high cost items and a full store audit monthly.

At Panago, I learned a lot, and was able to further better my managerial and personal skills. Was given alot of responsibility, and performed almost all of the day to day operations.

The owners of the store are very helpful and assist you to become a better worker, and to assist in training me for my job. 

The hardest part of the job, was terminating a staff members employment. 

The most enjoyable part of my day was just being there. I love working, and especially in a fast paced environment. It brings in business, and keeps staff busy!

What is the best part of working at the company?

Great team work.  Peers are always very  welcoming,  train you  very well.  Made you feel  part of the  team  instantly.  Great atmosphere everyone  willing to  lend  you a hand  when  needed. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Rush times,( lots of delivery/pick-up  orders constantly  coming in. I recommend getting  very familiar with the  cashier  system  when  it's  not busy, so u won't  get so overwhelmed.  It'll be  slow 1 minute,  and crazy busy the next. So be prepared for fast paced,  working  as a team. Érŕ

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very  welcoming, and  friendly. Clean , and  organized.  Great  communication with coworkers  as well as management. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It only took a couple  shifts and then I  pretty much knew what to do  on my own.  It was simply repetition I loved working  there.

Not a flexible company to work for, you get a sigh in between calls as they are endless during the hours they schedule you.

The more mistakes you make the longer you been here the more angry they get with you. You have zero co-workers to talk to.

Customers are flat out rude and will call you names and curse you out when you try to help or solve the problem. You get blamed for things out of your control that is management's problem or company policy and have to hear it from the customer. 

Biggest benefit is working from home and not having to commute by bus to the call center. 

Long shifts on Saturdays. 8 hours with calls back to back. Emotionally draining, not worth the minimum wage. 

Other jobs I've stood around doing nothing for hours at a time, this is not it, unless you give them very specific availability you will not be getting shifts when it's slow.

A typical day at work included delivering, customer service, dish-washing, helping with dough making, and monetary management.

Management consisted of a store manager and store owners, who were able to at any point watch the activities of the store and would call the store to report any infractions with the work done.

The co-workers were friendly and interesting; however, there was a large language barrier due to their culture as filipino workers.

The hardest part of the job was appealing to customers when work was done incorrectly. Many customers felt angered whenever a worker made any type of mistake, and when attempting to resolve the issue, many co-workers were attacked verbally for their supposed "stupidity."
