A company that is really excelled at appearing like a great place to work, however once you get on the inside. You quickly realize what the company actually is and the horrible mistake you've made. The majority of qualified and experienced employees left this company along time ago, and while there is still nice coworkers. There's a massive imbalance between qualified and under qualified people within the management ranks. about 2/4 of the current supervisors are actually qualified to be a supervisor and understand how to perform as a supervisor. but with how many people they have quit (about 60-80 in the last 90 days alone ranging from new employees to senior staff members) They don't really have much choice but to throw anyone into supervisor positions and it really shows both working with these people aswell as the lack of consistency across the sites they operate on. They also routinely present opportunities with requirements to obtain them, but when you meet those requirements they make up other reasons for why you do not qualify for the advancement. If you talk to a number of employees they will all say its how the company operates and always has. Any employee who isnt afraid to speak up will tell you they only work there because its a job, but they do not like or approve of the company or how it carries it self and routinely recommed to people to not apply if you're looking for a serious career in the industry. Multiple issues with safety, the most injuries ive ever seen in any industry or company and they routinely blame the employee instead of providing the proper training and guidance to avoid such incidents. again though with how many people leave the company they "dont have time to properly train and educate everyone" and ultimately you got undertrained, underqualified people teaching others and its just a vicious circle. They also routinely push employees to work harder than they need to, to compensate for the ridiculous rates they charge for very sub par inconsistent service.

If you are seeking out a new job career or want a change, give ParaSpace a try. If you are a kind of person that just wants that pay at the end of two weeks, look elsewhere as this company will not align with you. 

At this job I made life long friends, enjoyed my time outdoors (but working in rain is tough). I was happy to leave the house in the morning in search of accomplishment and came home at the end of the day tired. I worked all day with my close friends, most days I was making new friends and even conversing with customers for time to time. This job takes dedication and the drive to have a new lifestyle and it can take a few months or even upwards of 1 year to become comfortable and confident. I worked with multiple people that started off with ParaSpace looking for a new career and they did and are doing really well, I also saw people leaving constantly for different reasons. Don’t be mistaken, this company is large, you might be working a 5 minutes drive or a 1 hour drive from home and meeting/working withnew people constantly. Over the years working I did realize there was a few lies said to me from the beginning but I made peace with them or brought them up for clarification. This company is searching for quality workers not just to do work, but quality in terms of punctuality, attitude, respectful and someone than can stand up for what is right. The pay is pretty good as a beginner and after a few years working at ParaSpace, but you are working to better yourself and the landscape around you. 

This company and colleagues push you to be a better worker (if that’s not you, don’t apply) by understanding the basics of gardening or landscaping. If you want a long career you can get accredited in many different areas of gardening/landscaping. During COVID I heard terrible stories of people getting laid off and their working conditions, we kept working full time at Paraspace and I was so happy to have a job. According to these reviews before me there will always be better places to work, but at the same time theres worse, worse, worse places to work than ParaSpace.

If you are new in landscaping this would be a great starting point. Corporate gatherings make it super easy to connect with co-workers; whereas, seminars carried by mid-management give the necessary understanding of what is being done in the field and for what purpose.

Another notable advantage Para Space provides to its staff is secure winter hours. Unless it is a natural disaster you can be sure that the day is not going to be canceled. Moreover, during cold months the company runs aeration and deep edging crews, so there is always a job to do for everyone who does not want to be laid off in winter.

If you ever worked for another landscaping company, however, Para Space may seem like a harsh place of employment. The system of reports based on daily written reports and endless phonecall-reports tracks labor activity like a surveillance drone. The head office always makes sure you don't get paid for the time you did not actually work (or at least pretended to do so).

Some work sites are located as far as Langley, so if you had a misfortune to tell them that you have a car, be prepared to spend up to 2 hours a day in traffic. This huge waste of personal time is not compensated in any way. 

Lastly, the seriousness with which the company treats paperwork is beyond insanity. Although supervisors have a form for every occasion, it is nearly impossible for them to find the right one when the situation requires so. 

All in all, one of the most memorable places I worked at, but I would never want to come back there again.

In this job, the daily work atmosphere depended heavily on which site supervisor you were assigned to. Some supervisors were friendly and easy-going, creating a positive team environment that motivated me to work harder and take pride in what I was doing. However, most of the time, the prevailing culture leaned toward strict criticism and low morale. No matter how hard or diligently you worked, your efforts were often overshadowed by constant fault-finding, with little to no positive reinforcement. On the rare occasions when praise was given, it often felt insincere and out of place.

Supervisors frequently held end-of-shift meetings to review everyone’s performance, but many lacked time-management skills and regularly extended these meetings past our scheduled off-hours, resulting in unpaid overtime. Over time, the overall atmosphere became mentally draining, making me feel more like an emotionless machine than someone who could enjoy their work.

The one significant advantage was the competitive pay, which was issued biweekly and always on time. However, to the best of my knowledge, the company no longer hires employees without a personal vehicle. Staff are required to drive their own cars, and job locations are assigned randomly. It was common to be sent to very distant sites, with last-minute changes often made the night before, which meant I had to double-check my schedule every evening just to ensure I knew where I was going the next day.

I've worked at Para Space for 2.5 years, and in that short time I've climbed from laborer to pre-management, and nearly doubled my pay grade. If you are willing to put in the effort with Para Space, they will open whatever doors you want to go through. I've learned a ton about horticulture, leadership and productivity and have found a career path long term. 

My favourite part of working here though, is the people and culture. I came from jobs where you were treated as just another expendable body, to a workplace that genuinely cares about the people they employ. They're seriously invested in your professional and personal development. Everyone is challenged to be a better than they were yesterday. I've felt you can talk to your peers/supervisors/managers about anything going on in your life, and someone is always there to listen. 

There's company-wide events throughout the year like bowling, go-karting, golf, family picnics, hockey/football pools, professional development days, pumpkin carving, community outreach days and photo contests. There's benefits and a group RRSP. The workplace safety program is one of the best in the industry.

The work is physical and very fast paced, but if you can keep up, you'll be rewarded very well. If you enjoy a challenge and want to climb ranks quickly, this company is for you.

I joined Para Space 3 years ago as I was looking for a career change. I've always had a passion for landscaping but never had any formal training or education in the industry. I was drawn to Para Space by their 'no experience required' approach. They offer a unique and very thorough, hands on training program allowing anyone with a great attitude and willingness to learn, to advance their horticulture knowledge and skill set. I started my time at Para Space without knowing much about landscaping. Just wanted to try out an outdoor job and see if this is something I’d like. During my time at Para Space, I was given lots of learning opportunities and training by different supervisors and managers that helped me along the way. There are in house seminars taught by knowledgeable managers and they also sponsored me to get multiple landscape related certifications. The work can challenging and fast paced but also very rewarding. There is also always someone to help you when you encounter a problem. Now I am at a position where I get to do a mixture of spend time in the field, training other people, pruning hedges and also meeting with clients to provide a good landscape for them and solve their landscaping problems. Management has been supportive to help me get to where I am and the workplace environment has been collaborative where people help each other to do better. The hardest part of the job is working outside in the rain and cold but at the same time, because I have experienced the rain and cold, it makes the sun and warmth more enjoyable than before. Plus blowing a big pile of leaves and pruning a sharp looking hedge is very satisfying.

Working at Paraspace has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career so far. As a young professional in the horticulture industry, I’ve felt supported, mentored, and truly valued by the entire team — from crew members to management.
