Working in harm reduction at PQWCHC was one of the worst things that ever happened to me. The CHC is very cliquey and the incompetent management consistently engage in favoritism. Peer workers and staff who try to engage critically with any agency policies are treated as disposable. There's a reason that they constantly have job postings up and can't retain staff despite paying better than other harm reduction services in Toronto. I would not go back for any amount of money and the day I quit was one of the happiest days I've had in recent memory.

The clients made my days at this place.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No support from management.  They hire their friends.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Casual and lonely.  No help from anyone

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
When working with clients things went well.  Dealing with management not so much.

Fair and passionate management. The executive director is a powerhouse, ready to advocate for both clients and staff. I’ve never had a work place that more clearly practices what they breach, and ground their work in anti oppressive practices.

The best teams to work with, great leadership & flexible hours offering a great work and life balance. The most stressful thing is trying to help people in need in a timely manner due to funding restrictions.

There is so much valuable experience to gain within this company. They are very professional, and it is a good place to learn the importance of this. The client base gives great opportunities for education and growth. 

Generally a good place to work. Pay is OK, benefits good, learning opportunities are excellent, but the nepotism at the supervisor/management level is too much, and they have very little accountability to their employees.

A typical day starts with a team meeting where we review current and upcoming events relative to the clinical team. The management is helpful and very supportive to staff.  The team is supportive and work environment is good.

I've never experienced such an agency that knows how to treat its staff with respect and recognizes wellness. Their advocacy in the community is also aspiring and it connects you more to your own advocacy and to the community.

In the several years that I worked here, I did not receive any performance reviews. There were many issues at meetings that could have been addressed in a single email. No clear direction or supervision.
