Like in all school environments  there are some challenging students who need some extra guidance at times

Diverse and supportive..  friendly people  to work with.

8-315.. some supervision at recess and lots of different opportunities to teach various grades

Parkland School Division has recently slowed down on handing out anything other than temporary contracts to Educational Assistants. We are beginning to feel used. Low pay rates and no benefits. The EA's that have permanent contracts and benefits don't always appreciate their jobs or the fact they have benefits and sick says. 


Being a substitute teacher can be difficult, as you are faced with unpredictable and ever-changing job circumstances. You must be very adaptable. Because of this, I've developed the ability to improvise in a classroom. Unfortunately, work can be unreliable. By far the most enjoyable part of the job is building relationships with students and coworkers.

I loved my job. I invested my time and my love of education into my job. Their are so many wonderful people who work in this division. In my opinion educational assistants need to be better trained and given better pay. People in this profession are usually working with the highest needs, and should have a better understanding of the classroom dynamics as well.

I would teach students through out the day and have learned classroom management.  My co-workers were great and we would plan together.  The hardest part of the job would be completing report cards as the computer program would change.  The most enjoyable part is seeing a students face light up when learning something you taught them!

What is the best part of working at the company?
The support from co workers and administrators is amazing!  HR is super supportive as well and they take care of you.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The pay and some conditions we work in.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fun and supportive, staff become like family and have each others back.

Excellent Team!!  Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Very professional and hardworking.

Can be fast paced. Lots of responsibilities.

Excellent work environment & culture.

Workplace culture is very good, people are supportive and polite. Training required and offered. 
Salary might have been better, but they would not cancel if they have called you in (they would need to give a week notice).


I love Parkland School Division. They treat me like a person, value my opinion, and truly care about me. 
Casual keeps busy a lot of the time. I went onto full-time later and it was great. I love working school hours. Amazing PD workshops!

Parkland School Division was an excellent place to work both at Woodhaven Middle School and Forest Green. 
There were plenty of opportunities for professional development and staff interaction. Students were well treated.
