Parkview Childrens Centre

This is a great organization to work for!  Pay and benefits are (I think) better than most places in the Halton region.  Programs are Reggio-inspired and play-based with lots of opportunity for professional learning and programming time.  The families and children I've worked with are wonderful and have been great partners in their child's learning!  The centres are beautiful and set-up to connect with the school community and/or intergenerational programming with long-term care facilities.  Parkview continues to grow and expand its locations. On the downside, budget for regular supplies has lessened over the years, and there is a fair bit of staff turnover, but I think that can be seen in most centres these days. Overall, it's a great place to work and I'm grateful to be an employee!

If you express concerns you will be treated differently. When concerns are brought to management they are not properly documented nor investigated. Management does no support educators or families with concerns or issues. Educator are expected to twist truths and lie to families so the company doesn't look bad. Staff step out of ratio, kids left unsupervised and there are no consequences.

-typical day at work includes following the routine for the children, documentation, small group, large group, cleaning room and toys at the end of the day, progress reports, daily updates on each child for the parents

The most rewarding aspect of the job was interacting with the little ones. Their smiles and hugs were the perfect motivation to kickstart my day. However, the work environment needs a significant change; it's quite toxic. Some educators engage in gossip, making the workday quite challenging and unpleasant. e. V

 it was the worst experience I've had in education work. They completely lack respect for the work you do. The management is chaotic; if you don't obey them, they target you and nitpick everything. Managers don't see things from the children's perspective; they're just focused on passing inspections. They don't care about the quality of children's joyful learning.

A typical day involves play supervision, nap time and meals. I learned that each child leans differently. The management was so helpful. The hardest part of working there was getting to know all of the kids. The most enjoyable part of working there was getting to learn how to interact with different age groups. If you trust the children they will trust you.

I would avoid working at this place.  Management is not on your side.  The children, families and co workers were great.  There is a negative vibe here and there is no room for advancement or raises.

Stay away. Fake as it is. Management is business oriented and they don't care for your teaching experience or policy. You could invest all your life into it, but they don't care. They don't even care if you're there for equality and inclusion. They hate novelty. The management has no degrees,  and if you are more educated then them, expect to be fired. 

opened up centre and welcomed infants, set up creative learning experience within a nurturing environment. Worked in a team of four as a team leader, which challenge me to keep the program professional and running smoothly.The best part of this job is working with the children
