A typical day at works involves doing PR for a Member of Parliament as well as administrative duties. The people I work with in the office and in different offices are all very supportive and helpful. I have many tasks that are very time demanding so I have become more efficient with time management as well as presenting myself in a professional manner. The hardest as well as most enjoyable part of the job is creating newsletters to send to constituents. It requires research on current articles relating to Canada's government and summarizing them into a visually appealing, professionally formatted newsletter. It is enjoyable to be able to work in an environment where I can constantly learn about important parts about Canada's ministries and their contribution to our infrastructure.

Parliament Hill is unlike any other place to work. No two days are the same, and you are constantly changing things on the fly. That being said, I've met incredible people and have done amazing things during my time there. I've grown so much as a person and as someone starting on their own career path. I have had tremendous mentors and friends that have allowed me to excel. 

Politics isn't for everyone - the long hours and stress requires a certain skill set and personality type. If you are passionate and have a tireless work ethic, you might be up to the challenge!

This is a great way to start your political career. Your employer will allow you to grow in all areas regarding whether you want to be a future politician or not. With experience in this valued working environment, I was able to learn from not only my faults but from everyone else within the office. The people who I worked will were fast paced, and accommodated me with the items that I needed in order to get my stuff done on time. Overall, this is a perfect first job in politics.

I genuinely enjoyed working in the Parliament of canada. I have learned so much about the canadian government. Working here has allowed me to realize that I want a career in the government. This job has allowed me to learn how to work in a professional office environment and has allowed me to build my phone etiquette and email etiquette. I am quick to finish work that has been assigned to me and am always looking to see if there is more I can do.

Working at Parliament was fun. The people were kind and passionate and the work was fun, interesting and instructive. People follow the news closely and think of creative ways to make a difference.

Loved the bilinguisme and the social aspect of the role. They provided a full training and gave employees the ability to grow within their role. The culture was friendly and welcoming. Love working amongst ministers and other essential employees.

The page program was very nice and amazing. I learned so much about the parliament and the MPP's. I improved my communication skills and improved how to work under stress and in a crowded environment.

Depending on the office you get, some work will be assigned if you have a good manager. If not, you will be left to do nothing. Some with good morals treat interns with respect, while some will ignore you. 

Loved working here, would recommend it to anyone looking for an introduction to the world of policy and politics that is looking for a challenge. Give it a shot!

Unreal experience 

Very well run, the internship program is second to none. 

Learned a lot about political policy and there was a lot of extra work and events they organized for the whole group of interns!
