There work load goes from busy to standing doing nothing.
They bring new staff in at higher wages than long-term employees, instead of giving their current staff raises to say thanks for keeping us open and great job
Management likes to belittle employees play favoritism and not do their part in following procedures and getting rid of employees whom are constantly harassing and bullying other employees.
Constantly trying to hire people for departments but will not bring in tools or machinery needed to allow for more people to properly do job required.
Doesn't matter how good of an employee you are or you show them when you can do, you will not get recognized for it.
Most people have stayed as long as they have because it has become convenient to them.

The union does not even care that the long-term employees are earning less than new employees 

High workload, low pay and management is busy playing games.

You will be given almost no training then given more and more tasks to do that you were never told you might get. Expect to be doing someone's else job plus yours within a year for the same pay.

Constant chasing of new toys and aquisitions mean that existing key accounts and department are often managed by one person who becomes overstetched. Person leaves or retires, new person comes in, gets burned out, cycle repeats.

They'll give you a .5% raise a year and will refer to it if you ask for an actual raise. 

Don't expect to climb the ranks if you don't devout 80% of your time making a big show of being total converted zealot. You won't have "what it takes" (aka giving your boss constant gossip on the other employees).  

Regions don't talk to one another. Departments don't talk to one another. Offices don't talk to shops. Etc. Etc. More of a confederation of petty kingdoms than one corporate structure. 

Pattison is a very politically charged environment and management largely keeps the front line workers in the dark about strategy. The president is reluctant to change and has unfortunately surrounded himself with yes men who are more concerned about being right and keeping their own jobs than really helping focus on the customer and employees. They have been through several large layoffs the past two years as their costs are very high making them uncompetitive to smaller and less bloated competitors. While integrity is talked about a lot and even in the mission statement, in real life it is anything but. Senior management has pushed some high quality out who were trying to make the company better. Micromanagement is also a real problem. You can work on a great solution for months, but when trying to roll it out will be overruled and managed to a path that is stuck in the past.

The job itself is fun and challenging.  It lets you learn all the aspects of the sign industry and is driven on customer satisfaction.

Workplace culture is very laid back and easy going but employees are always on edge due to decisions made by upper management. It is a very "toxic" environment to work in due to the gossip and drama that happens between employees and management has yet to address these issues. Employees don't feel as if upper management is really about the people and creating enjoyable work environment. 

Upper management is not well received due to broken promises and decisions made that ultimately do not benefit the company as a whole as we have seen time and time again.  

Salaries and not very competitive and below average for all positions in the industry, employees are under paid. 

Being able to create friendships that last was the best part of the job along with creating healthy relationships with contractors and installers.

The company has poor management that lacks a clear vision for the future. Leadership decisions appear reactive rather than strategic, resulting in confusion and inconsistent direction for employees. Also, the leadership team relies on outdated management practices that fail to address the current challenges of a rapidly changing environment. Instead of fostering innovation, collaboration, and adaptability, these leaders cling to traditional hierarchical methods that stifle creativity and discourage employee engagement. As a result, the organization struggles to remain competitive, loses talented staff, and fails to inspire confidence among stakeholders.

The only people who work here are people who can’t get work somewhere else or they’ve been fired from competitors. Managers have no idea how to manage or even about what there departments do, senior management is a joke & they think we don’t know they’re making tons of money while screwing us & sales guys know nothing about signs. They tell customers how much money they have how big & great they are then they put all of us on EI. They cut corners on jobs already sold & delay work until they can find a way to make more money without customers knowing, KAM’s, PC’s & PM’s all with zero training and zero knowledge, even after decades. Pattison is a joke.

prospect, deal with existing clients, design, permits, schedule, visit clients ...

Generally looking for experienced, knowledgeable workers willing to work for just over minimum wage. 
The overall quality of work does not seem to actually have a set standard beyond “yep, that’s fine.” 
The potential to be an absolute powerhouse of a sign shop is there. The amount of people who get by on doing the bare minimum with no consequences make being motivated and going the extra mile increasingly difficult. 

Unless you LOVE you trade and are an expert in it, I would suggest applying elsewhere. 

- A typical day at work : getting jobs from manager and do the artwork/graphic according to client's request or following the template

- What you learned : I learned a lot about sign business. the attitude for work and how fit in with co-workers

- Management : in general, it's a good management

- Your co-workers: they are very nice and very helpful

- The hardest part of the job : for me, it's to be very careful for the detail/input that you put on the descriptions.

- The most enjoyable part of the job : to work with very happy, warm-hearted co-worker, and they are very helpful.

Great place to work lots to learn everyday.good co workers willing to help out and look out for each other.
Safety good rating and constant improvements.
Place where to grow and move higher just depending what you like and of course handle. never a dull moment because of the innovative market that the company is in, Economy is slow right now so there is layoffs.Union shop so you are looked after.
Benefits could improve.
