Great job outside looking in with benefits, pension, and reasonable pay.  The  reality is the place is a cancer, and it begins to effect everything. 

In my interview it was mentioned PRSD is family orientated.  My mistake was thinking they meant it is a good job for those with small family's of their own.  Nope, not in the least.  After many years there I have formulated the opinion they were referring to the Mafia hierarchy feel of management.  One dare not offend the Don.

In the interview they also commented that they have a strong safety program.  In my opinion the safety program was nothing but a facade.  Safety is #1 priority until it takes time, or costs money.

Poor management starts at the very top, and doesn't get better all the way down.  They lack the ability to properly motivate, and boost the moral of their employees.  Often going in the opposite direction seemingly oblivious.

The union I had found to be equally useless, and really only their to collect their dues.  

If you want to work in a mentally unhealthy organization, where you are treated as a disposable, replaceable labor, constantly frustrated with bad management, and poor decisions, and where the only light at the end of the tunnel is retirement then this is the place for you. 

Working in this rural school division has been a rewarding and adventurous experience. Each day brings new opportunities to learn and grow alongside supportive and collaborative colleagues who are always willing to share ideas and resources. The central office and school administration are approachable and genuinely supportive of teachers and their professional decisions. Small class sizes allow for meaningful connections with students and more individualized instruction. There are also valuable professional development opportunities and resources available for those interested in improving their practice. Like any school division in today’s political climate, there are challenges related to government funding and support, but with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic, success is achievable. This division is a great fit for educators who are flexible, motivated, and looking for a place where they can make a real difference in students’ lives while feeling supported by their team.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Really supportive staff and admin.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Probably the hardest part of the job was that the location was a bit remote. My principal was really understanding and aware of the challenges associated with this and was incredibly supportive and flexible. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a respectful and caring environment to work in.  The PRSD administration works hard to support their staff and make them feel valued.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Each day always held challenges but was also really rewarding

What is the best part of working at the company?
Outstanding coworkers and students!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I would say the only thing that needs to change is more hourly wage and more sick days.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a very supportive and comfortable working environment. They make you feel like family 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very nice working in a small school that provides adequate support at most times. In my opinion they should have one IPP coach dedicated to assisting EAs in receiving extra training if required.

A work day at the Peace River School Division often presents new opportunities to learn and grow as a professional. When tasked with making decisions based on the consideration of meeting the needs of both staff members and students, this automatically creates an environment where individuals are asked to think beyond themselves and consider the greater impact of their decisions. Hated winter driving..had to warm up bus for an hour before leaving and still took awhile of driving before warmed fully

Great place to work if you are with maintenance.
For the most part low stress and laid back a real change from working in the private sector. Nice group of co-workers. The only issue is being a union everything is seniority first in first out  and if there is cutbacks no matter how well you do your job if you do not have the hours you will be let go. But I enjoyed my time there immensely and would still be there today if I did not move.

As a teacher with PRSD, you have access to so many supports! On top of a great Admin team at the school, there are also Divisional Coordinators available to help you implement research-based best practices in Literacy, Numeracy, and Indigenous Education. To assist you with programming for your students with exceptional needs, each school has a school-based I-Coach as well as a Divisional I-Coach assigned to the school. What a great place to work!

They were a wonderful company to work for!! They were always fair a decent to me,I made many good friends in the time I was employed for them.They worked hard to ensure their staff was treated fairly and offered numerous courses to help us achive better skills to help make us better equipped to dealing with the stresses we would encounter.

I loved working there, would still be there if I didn’t have to move,  the management team listened to your concerns and addressed them promptly as a lot of times it was a safety issue. Kids were talked to, parents and principals were notified and problems were taken care of quickly !
