Peekaboo Child Care

I was a cook for peekaboo. The chances of advancement are near none. If you want to work for peekaboo i highly suggest you re-consider. Some managment are very good. Some are absolutly terrible. I started with a great supervisor but, when she left and went to a different location, the whole place fell apart. You will never make a lot of money with peekaboo, although the owner is a millionair. The food is all pre-cooked for the kids. I learned absolutly nothing from peekaboo. I was there to basicaly heat up food and do the dishes. The thing i will miss most is the children. The hardest part of the job was watching the behaviour that some of the ECE's displayed. I would say 50% of them hated their jobs (not a good enviorment for children) Peekaboo advertises video over the internet. I have witnessed ECE"s putting children in the bathroom for punishment ( no cameras there). Make sure you are very involved with the everyday behaviours of the classroom if you child attends peekaboo. Its all smiles untill you leave the room and go off to work for the day. 50% people. The other 50% are great, are you willing to gamble with your child?

the only workplace I know that you are required to find your own supply coverage if you cant find a person to cover you then you will be asked to come to work and the office will decide when to sent you home. Pay is not worth it to work like crazy. Staff are asked to clean the staff bathroom, mop the hallway,(when the kids are sleeping or you're on ratio, vacuum the carpet (because its not the cleaner's job) so you work here as a cleaner too, so if you wanna work here be ready to do some cleaning job. 
Management only cares about money and getting more children, not listening to employees. Staff come and go. 
Working with the children and their families is wonderful its hard to leave this place because of them but if the management doesn't show any support and care then that's the time to say bye. "You cant have a good daycare if you don't have a good staff foundation"

If you're willing to work at this workplace, keep in mind of a number of things. The staff may be great, but the quality of the management team is quite substandard - they're unprofessional and rude, and to be honest they don't care about the staff, much like the CEO who doesn't even make an attempt to get to know the people who are enabling her to make the millions she earns annually. The environment is depressing, it's like everyone there hates their job. There's no opportunity for advancement and the pay is mediocre. The duties make you feel like you're not doing anything meaningful at that place - just cleaning up after kids and dealing with unprofessional people. So unless you're willing to settle, I'd advise you work somewhere else. Also, this doesn't apply across all locations - depends on which location you work at.

       I worked with three co-workers in  preschooler environment at Peekaboo child care center in Brampton.My co-workers were experienced in their fields,so I got feedback about my activities. I read and learned about behavior management policy too.Peekaboo curriculum is theme based and it represents  an enjoyable moments in children's lives.The hardest part of the job was when I left Peekaboo child care. I mean to say that when my placement was going to finish and start my college. The happiest part of the job was  everyday I began my morning to see young children. I learn lot from my experience, this is the main reason why I finished my diploma without take a break.

The salary is low considering the amount of work you do for the center and within the classroom. Everyone within the center has a different salary depending on their title and the number of years they've been there. Although this is the only con about the center, their are lots of pro about it. The staff, director are welcoming, friendly, understanding, flexible and are willing to accommodate with your schedule and are willing to teach you knew things. The director is always planning fun and exciting activities and games to show the staff how much she appreciate their hard work by doing bbq, secret Santa, celebrating all the holidays, and doing fun activities for children such as ice cream day, hat day, a pajamas day and so much more.

Being in the peekaboo community it really opened my eyes to further establish skills that I will forever carry on with me. Coming in everyday was something I was happy and would tell all my family and friends about how much I love working at the specific centre. Not only are the supervisors nice and understanding, but so are the staff, and parents. 

 Hardest part of my job is working along side the families. This challenge was hard, but it also made me a stronger Early Childhood Educator. 

Coming into work, observing the children and gaining more knowledge about what they would like to engage in play with was something that helped me create more experiences for them.

It is very disheartening that persons working for well being of children do not enjoy simple amenities like a decent lunch room or cafeteria or a staff room. I go there frequently to leave my child and feel sorry for people working at Peekaboo. They work so hard for well-being of children while they themselves are not treated with dignity. They are deprived of minimum amenities of any reasonable employer. Even ware houses have decent sitting places or cafeteria for enjoying break times. It is truly surprising that such an important profession has a poor work culture.

There are 8 classrooms with children aged 6 months to 6 years old.
I learned how to lead in a team, accept constructive growth tips, and manage my time between interactions with the children and filling reports that are required by Management.
The hardest part of the job is learning to adapt to each child's specific needs while in a room of up to 24 children with only three staff.
The most enjoyable part of the job is being a vital part of the children's growth and education. It is truly amazing to watch a child grow from infancy to be an independent child with much success in their future.

If you love your child and care about their well-being, please do not enroll your child with Peekaboo.

Very minimal materials available, little to no toy rotation most are broken or cheap plastic, staff underpaid, processed & sometimes expired food for meals, mold and pest problem from several locations in GTA, zero financial assistance from Head Office, and overall a very upsetting level of care available to children.

If the director/supervisor likes you, then rules dont apply to you and your work environment will be perfect. If they dont like you, the will talk behomd your back, treat you loke one of the kids, and make you feel like you are worthless. Never worked for a ppave that you had to find your own coverage to. Managment is only there for the money so they can get more plastic surgery and rib it in your fave that they are better then you. And be prepared to clean toilets.
