The compensation package is the bare minimum. Prescriptions are 100%, and are basically the only thing completely covered by the plan. The people who work here are great people, and I've made plenty of friends over the year I've been here. The biggest problem is that, unlike most places, if you work hard and get labeled as reliable, you will not move up, but anyone who doesn't will be moved on to better jobs. The food is usually terrible, the rooms are small with uncomfortable mattresses, the internet is incredibly unreliable, and the cell service is nearly non-existent. The only nice thing about this place is that they provide things like winter coveralls and gloves.

What is the best part of working at the company?
So far, pretty decent to work for, good supervision, not pushy, very helpful when you ask for assistance

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Not very stressful, but the hours from wake up to back to camp are long! Only stress is waking up!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good, safety is first with them! Very helpful, very nice people to work with! You have any problem, there is someone there who will help take care of it!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long days, but PSI meeting to start, head out to equipment, and just move some earth all day! Park up end of shift and bus to camp

Typical day was toolbox meeting in the morning any issues were addressed immediately foreman’s and supervisor always available . Work culture was very good some sandbox players but not to bad. Hardest part was being treated poorly just makes for negative interactions. Most enjoyable part was the relationship that were built and most of the crew’s were overall good to work with. The only job were the owner was on site my first day and took me around. Was very appreciative of that and if was given an opportunity to work with Pelly again because of the owner I would very nice person.

Pelly construction paid well and u found their mine to follow very strict safety guidelines which at a mine is obviously paramount. The kitchen was open 24 hours, and you could request anything you wanted for breakfast like oatmeal, yogurt and berries. Omelettes, bacon and eggs. The people were easy to get along with and everyone was willing to help me understand how best to do my job as make it easier for me. Overall I really enjoyed my time there and wish that a full time position had become available.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The crew and the supervisors are the best you’re ever going to find. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with all the qc’s and surveyors. They sneak up on equipment working sometimes and catches operators by surprise.

Great work environment. Everyone’s friendly and helpful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Find out what machine you’ll be operating for the day and the task. Then get er done!!

At Pelly they had good foreman, good Supervisor, great people. Got to show my self taught high Production skills, and they are pretty good. LOL  Mostly blasted rock, tried loading from side, but learned quickly you can not do with blasted rock. The big chuncks make truck shaking, and this truckers do not like. All around it was great job, pay was lower on scale and equipment was older also. But am not a complainer, overall I was happy there.

The workday was 11 hrs. Camp life was good, with good food and all the amenities of home. Great work/life balance for me- 20 days on/10 days off. Management  was pretty good for the most part. I was fortunate enough to have great people to work with which made the job fun. I made some close lifelong friends at that job.

The Superintendent of Pelly was an extremely gruff individual but you could always count on getting an answer to anything you asked.  Fast paced and always something different each day made it for a very interesting and fun place to work.  Typical camp environment, not for everyone.

No job security or advancement opportunity.  Employer didn't cover travel expenses as per industry standard, especially since other employees were.  The camp living conditions were quite bad: bad food (couldn't eat most of it), no temperature regulation in rooms, very noisy rooms, poor internet, no TV.

Making breakfast, clean up, baking, pre-ping for dinner, no lunch was required. Having sandwich makings available for lunches. Cleaning of the camp.
There was no difficulty at this work site, people, co-workers all got along. Beautiful remote area, was able to see how the peoples who lived there live off the land.
I did all the work in the kitchen, which I do enjoy.
