If you’re considering working here, think twice. This company has some of the most micromanaging managers I’ve ever experienced. Every detail of your work is scrutinized, creating a stressful, trust-lacking environment. The constant oversight stifles creativity and autonomy, making it nearly impossible to feel valued or capable of doing your job well.

The worst part is that HR is no help. Despite numerous employee complaints, HR consistently ignores or downplays issues, quietly supporting the managers instead of advocating for the employees. This “look the other way” approach only enables poor management practices, leaving employees feeling stuck and unheard.

If you’re seeking a supportive and empowering workplace, keep looking. The culture here is toxic, and unfortunately, there’s no one in management or HR who seems interested in changing that.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Some of the people, and my team excluding the manager

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Mainly things carried out by our manager; clear communication, respect, clarity, guidance, indecisiveness, lack of knowledge, lack of trust, blaming.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Pretty good. Very laid back. Business casual attire and most are friendly and helpful. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday is different.  There are always new faces and new challenges.

Météomédia is part of a consortium called "Pelmorex Media Inc." and unfortunately, they have decided to transfer all technical activities located in the Montréal office to Oakville (Toronto) in Ontario.  “The Weather Network” is the English counterpart to Météomédia.

Since Météomédia operates in a broadcasting environment, no outage (black On Air - TV) is accepted.  This brings a bit of stress but other than that it is a very good working environment.  Management and co-workers are professional who take their job seriously.

The technical documentation is very poorly organized, NOT up-to-date and the techs have to figure things out on the fly

Technical Management is very inflexible and uses the blame game 

A HUGE technical employee turnover

Work atmosphere is negative and toxic 

Technical employees work alone during all shifts and very little technical support

An amazing place to intern. Everybody was welcoming and patient when teaching me how everything works. I truly feel like a member of a family and am excited to go in to work every day. I feel very fortunate to have been offered an on-call position during my internship.

Pelmorex continues to be in a growth phase, moving from a small/medium company to a large one.  This company prides itself of doing things in house and having control over it's own destiny.  There is also a concerted effort to place focus on culture and people.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It was a wonderful experience and the work from home was a huge flex

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing really, just that you tend to work overtime sometimes. But it's compensated.

This has been an amazing experience in terms of jobs! Very open and friendly culture, really cares about what employees say and think, and fabulous CEO! Fun activities, really engaging, and exciting learning opportunities.

Pelmorex has created an environment where everyone contributes to getting the job done.  Everyone shares successes and failures equally.  There are high expectations to produce results, but exciting projects keep things interesting.
