These things happen, they let me go after about a month and a half. I always showed up on time, they are very strict about showing up on time, or showing up early and listening to your calls before and after work to better yourself when calling. They claim work/life balance which was pretty true. A typical 9-5pm job, 45 minute lunch. Clean office, right beside union station, so it was very accessible. I met some of the best people from my hiring class there which made the job very bearable. I wish I still had a chance to be in touch with them but it’s hard if you’re not working there. I was looking to have these work friends around for years, that’s how good it felt to meet people around the same age, same passions, etc. 

You will cold call for 8 hours a day, they want a minimum of 90-100 dials a day, with 100-120 minutes of talk time a day. Not at first, but after a month that’s what you’ll be required to do. You will be required to book at least one meeting per day. The leads are pretty bad to start, you get the recycled ones. After a while you do get okay ones. Every time you get a meeting, there’s a small perk but not overly worth it. The commission wasn’t worth it either. The training class was better than the actual job, our “training coach” was super nice and friendly. This is what made me more excited about the job than the job itself eventually.

Between my hiring class and the original one that was there before we were, several people from both groups were either fired or quit. When I got let go my manager told me they didn’t think I was a right fit for the business and it was nothing personal, just business. I did ask the manager what the real reason was and they said “based on my call review”. Quite honestly my calls and my style of sales was to actually get to know the people and build a good rapport and relationship with them, my style is more customer service, but I guess they didn’t enjoy that very much. I will say I was not rude on my calls, I was as personable as I am in real life, and the minute I started being myself they didn’t like that I guess.

Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not an awful job if you don’t mind cold calling, but you can do better and you should do better. To me it felt very sleazy calling people over and over and over just for them to feel pressured to sit down for a meeting.

Apply and work here at your own expense. It’s hard to get no’s 90% of the time from people over the phone but that’s just me. If you get an interview, they’ll repeat over and over how much you’re going to hate the job for the first 3 months, and then you learn to love it.

Nothing overly stressful as long as your were producing and hitting targets

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Aside from being micro managed, and then micro managed some more, it was a positive culture until the CEO leadership changed - the new CEO, Darrin Chadwick brought in a new "revolving door" culture that left most employees feeling of little value to the company - which became true, you are  not valued as an employee, and nothing more than an employee file number to Peninsula these days - I would not recommend this employer to anyone looking for a long term career - there are many better options out there - do not get caught in this trap

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Generating revenue - that was goal number one - increase daily/weekly/monthly revenue streams

A high turnover rate says a lot about a company. There are many reasons to not want to work here, even though they make it seem great at the start. There's so much pressure on hitting targets that teams will often fight for credit to make their numbers better, creates a toxic feeling of competition rather than teamwork across the company. Sales team will often oversell the service putting a lot of pressure on the client teams with unhappy clients. Pay is generally pretty low. There's no HR department so employees don't really have support to turn to in case of issues (which there are a lot of - many cases of workplace harassment). 

Working at Peninsula is the best challenge you can give yourself. It's an opportunity to learn a new industry and become a high achiever. It's a fast paced business with a high performance culture that brings the best out in people. 
It's not easy, but it's extremely rewarding. If you're willing to put in the work you will reap all the rewards. 
The business is going in a great direction due to the expertise of the executives and will continue to rapidly grow in the coming years. 
There's never been a better time for a salesperson to join the HR & H&S industry. 

I love the culture at this company. It is a "flat" organization -which means that nobody is more important than another. Everyone is rowing in the same direction and excited to get the sales. The culture is very sales oriented and proudly so! It's refreshing to say the least!

My experience with the senior management was amazing. I felt they had my back at all times and expected me to pull my weight as well. I gladly did so!

I would recommend this company to anyone who is passionate about business as they do a great job in this work!

If you like to be a "lone wolf" in sales -you won't last very long here. It is all about working as a team and relying on each other to accomplish a VERY aggressive growth strategy!

Fantastic work environment! It's a high performance culture so it can be challenging and you'll be pushed to your limits, but you'll get all the support and encouragement from management and your team members to succeed. This place really does create great people. 

What I really love is that they are not adamant on having sales experience. They're happy to hire and train & develop. As long as you have a good work ethic you can do well here. The training and coaching is great. 

Almost all the managers and team leads have been promoted from within and really know what it takes to be successful, so there's plenty of role models to help you succeed.

Peninsula Canada has a great service offering for small and medium businesses which does help in the sales conversations. The sales roles here particularly the outbound inside sales are indeed challenging as it involves trying to get hold of key decision makers, educating them on the importance of HR & Health & Safety compliance and then opening them up to a consultation. However, to ensure people succeed, there is an amazing coaching plan in place with a full time inside sales trainer. As long as one is curious to learn and is coachable, it's a great company to work for!

I've been at Peninsula a little over 3 months. I could not be happier!! Amazing team setting with endless support across the board! If you want to advance your sales career, Peninsula is the place to do it! They compensate well, ensure you have the tools and resources to succeed and are always willing to be a helping hand! Management/training is amazing. All they want is for you to succeed and be happy! This company is new to Canada and is going to continue to grow! Anyone would be lucky and blessed to work here! 

Peninsula is great, just started and the team here is very supportive and motivating. The management and supporting team are one of the best, especially for a sales job, if you are just entering sales you will learn a lot working here. As well as, room for opportunity and growth are huge and based on performance. If you are willing to learn and get through it this is the perfect fit. Overall, amazing workplace, amazing people and especially product, we actually help people I truly believe.
