Pentair Industrial Heat Trace Solutions is a productive and laid back place to work.  As a construction project specialist you got to essentially be a field engineer.  You got to client work sites and do many various walk downs. While doing this, you learn everything there is to know about electrical heat trace.  The work you do is contract based so, a typical work day all depends on what project you are working on,  Some days you are at the head office working in a cubical, but can play a game of table tennis or fooseball on you break time, or you could be on site collecting data for the engineers back at the head office.  The most enjoyable part of the job is to be on site.  This is where you get to see what designs are on paper being applied to the real world situations.  Because it is contract work, the hardest part is when you are between projects.  Being between projects isn't all bad though, seeing as it gives you time to work on any development goals you set for yourself at the beginning of each year with management.

Typical day at work: -  scheduled actions based on the  plan for the day ( daily to do list)  On going generating leads (cold calls to prospects, business negotiations, presentations, project clarifications, consultations, project approvals, making appointments, business trips to customers, visits of production sits and work with decision makers, work with dealers and suppliers,
Marketing and promotions activities, quotation preparation and many more.
What I have  learned: Excellent Time management, 
Effectively communicate and negotiate with customers on a regular basis, provide persuasive sales presentations and deliver relationships building customer service, resolve promptly client issues, problem - solving skills,  

The management of the company and coworkers are very skilled, knowledgable and professional in all issues of the business.

The most hardest but enoyable part of the job is ongoing business trips ( more than 50 % of the time)

my role involved: 
This position plays a key role in forecasting, planning and organizing the procurement of Purchased
Finish Goods in order to meet customer demands. Work across departments and manage multiple
priorities is necessary. This position will work directly with suppliers and internal customer service
rep that are both internal and external to the Company to ensure supplier performance expectations
are met. Monitor sales forecast against customer demand and usage quantities to identify issues and
trends and take necessary proactive measures to identify upcoming issues and respond. Manage
inventory on an on-going and proactive basis to ensure the right quantity and mix of inventory is on
hand. Expedite rush order and actively update system with changes.

I love working with the people we are like family and management tries to be supportive.  Each day is busy and fast paced and I enjoy the fact of helping people.  The hardest part is the inconsistency of the management.  I do enjoy working here everyday but still look forward to my time off.

  I really need consistency and growth and sometimes I feel I don't receive that.  But all in all still an enjoyable place to work for.

I need someplace where the climate is a little more stable and Illinois weather is a constant change.  I would love to find a decent paying job further south.

Management has sacraficed employee satisfaction and engagement by reducing staff levels to an unhealthy level. Employees are experiencing serious health issues, and are worked well beyond what is an acceptable level.

Customer satisfaction, employees safety and quality standards are well below standards and at its current rate this location will be closed within 18 months.

I am not a disgruntled former employee, but rather an individual who had to resign to escape an unhealthy environment and culture.

Job security within the HSE sector is non existent. Workers are hired without proper training, when staff does not understand expectations they are reprimanded and then let go before there 3 month probationary period without just cause or formal warning. Management is unprepared and unprofessional with lack of experience to guide a large division.

It is a company that on the outside pretends to care about the customer and employees but it is superficial and not implemented. I found that it was more about checking off boxes and making your boss happy who was trying to make their boss happy then it was about doing your job right. 

If your pay is more important then your integrity and job satisfaction this is the place for you.

Totally disorganized after being bought/sold many times. From BiC, Tracer, Tyco Thermal, Pentair- the management is inexperienced and high staff turnover. Laid off over 70 people with downturn in oil. No Ft. Mac projects now, which were the cash cow. Business unit will probably be sold off again in 2017.

Great teamwork, excellent place to trainee about canadian work environment, managers are always available to listen their employees, salary is fair compared to other similar industries.
Soccer table & tennis table are available for employees during their shift.
Different activities are made during special days to reinforce the team relationship and respect.
