Typically, when dealing with concrete products, there is a lot of hand bombing, which means you need to be in good shape. I had a great experience with Permacon, and was given the opportunity to grow with the company as I started as a sweeper, and made my way to yard supervisor. With this role I had to work long hours (dawn till dusk). The management that I was working for, did have a bit of a language barrier, but, we all knew what our tasks were. The overall culture of the facility where I was employed, was decent, but could use some work, again the language barrier. The hardest part of the job was definitely the physical demands, but I really enjoyed the trust to create a yard layout and dealing with all the customers.

Permacon has a really innovative culture and it is a pleasure to work here.
I feel well supported when I have an issue and my colleagues are amazing. I feel surrended by smart and qualified individuals, which is rewarding as an employee.

The social benefits and salary are definitely above the market, which is  welcomed when you come out of a smaller company.

Overall, Permacon surpassed my expectation. I am not even doing this for the review. I am just being honest.

Fast pace, lot's of hrs, good environment.

The only thing I had a problem with was I was hired as a yard truck operator/shipper locator and performed that job for over a year.

They had a couple of machine operators leave the company and were now short staffed.  Instead of hiring qualified operators, they took me from my position and more or less changed my career.

I have 15 years operational and shipping experience, I don't think it's right that they dictate your career path. 

They got rid of me because I didn't want to change my career.

As a CSR my daily tasks consist of entering web, email and by phone.
Schedule deliveries, book appointments for pick up. 

The pros : Free coffee, monthly breakfast, medical coverage, RRSP match.

The cons: The work culture/environment is very toxic, management lack proper training, working under pressure and most of the employes were cold amongst the new employes.

Overall I will not recommend based on me 15+ years of working in customer service. This place was by far the worse experience I've ever been in.

No support from management and supervisor. No job security. No safety and did not get training.I asked some work related questions to my supervisor but did not answered me properly. If you have a stable job then not go for this one. They hired me evnthough I have bit different background and I have told them and mentioned in an interview as well but after 10 days told me that I am not trained. Absolutely rediculous place to work. 

Hardly any training. The lead hands are lazy and arrogant. Lead hands gossip continually about other employees.  Safety seems to be an afterthought all the time. Temps are treated like dirt. Long hours ( 12 hour shifts). You are not paid for your lunch.  Backbreaking work at times, dusty, dirty and the pay is poor. 

Great job for people that have low skill or have been forklift drivers or working in warehouses so far in their lives.  A good work ethic and situational awareness can move you towards more significant areas in the company.

Permacon does not pay enough for the work load, skills or difficulty of operations. Hard work, broken machinery. Only plus is zero supervision and lots of overtime. I would definitely say look for another place to work, if you take a position with Permacon, always be looking fur something better. Layoffs a strong possibility

Terrible work environment. Abusive, aggressive  management and no support.
Coworkers are good, the issues of the company fall squarely on the management.
Would strongly recommend against working at the Metcalfe location.

Worked here for over 20 years . Management does not take your efforts or concerns seriously. Only when forced to act, they act. Good pay here, but many times you take pains and stress from the days shift home with you. Ok job if you need money. No for you if you want to make a difference and move up.
