You're treated like a body and not like a person. I didn't get a lot of training and my manager never checked in on me to see how I was doing. Some nurses and PSWs looked down on me as a housekeeper and spoke down to me. You would think me being a young person they'd try and be a bit more kind. You put up with a lot from residents and staff in this job and management doesn't have your back. I didn't feel safe at work most times either with not enough supervision.
It is really gossipy and negative here and everyone is stabbing everyone in the back. Nothing is done about it by management. All they care about is sitting in their offices, hiding and not dealing with what needs to be dealt with on the floors and leaving at 4pm. Poorly managed and staffed. I suggest finding a job somewhere you are appreciated and your hard work acknowledged. The residents deserve better.


This place of employment did not deal well with problems a lot of work place bully's and very little support from management.Union did try to help but ussually the friend of the union rep won out in the end. A very hot envirement in summer as there is no air conditoning in building. The hardest part of the job was dealing with demetia residents that had potential for violent tempers. The most enjoyable part was making a resident happy or comfortable as the end of life approached. I learned a lot about difficult people and how important it is to have balance between home and work. Another nice benefit was free in services and training to improve your skills. As well they often had fun days at work to show appreciation for staff for example spa days, bake sales, free popcorn, free coffee and tim bits they did there best to make it fun but sometimes other changes in management have to happen to really make a difference.

This is my first job since I obtained my RN. It has been a big learning curve but overall I consider it a success. Management is supportive of employee's ongoing education to enhance resident care. Workplace is very busy and very fast paced. Balancing work/life is more of a challenge here. Management is very willing to be flexible about shifts but Long Term Care in general tends to be short staffed so I get called for extra shifts a lot. This is great for extra $$$ but when covering for others a lot you have to plan really well and be really constructive with time off. Management is really good about covering overtime and they are always thankful for the additional help. Overall it is a good place to work.

As a personal support worker here you do a lot for what you get paid. I’ve worked at retirement homes for more and less work. 

The management here isn’t very good.. you can constantly email and call and nothing will be returned back to you about your concerns or about anything. Communication doesn’t exist here.

Hardly anyone will help you out with the 2 person people (except by using a lift) and it’s a struggle to find someone to.

The only good thing about this place is the residents. 



Many concerns raised about staffing levels always short staffed putting way too much work onto the remaining staff with no improvement.  Mostly agency staff as no incentive for good regular staff to stay causing inconsistency of care and also a slap in the face for regular workers as the agency are being paid more.  Might as well just be an agency nurse you will make more money and be appreciated more.  

Poor communication by management about changes including  poor communication about IPAC  measures among nursing staff and PSWs . Not much continuity of care with agency staff everywhere and long time staff having many days vacation to fill in. Forget calling management to deal with issues. They don't call back.  Collaboration among PSWs lacking. Not a lot of teamwork.



The Director of Care and administration are completely out of touch with staff and day-to-day operations. There is no real leadership, just poor decisions and lack of accountability. Staff concerns are ignored, and nothing ever improves. It’s frustrating working under management that clearly doesn’t know what they’re doing.

This is  an old Nursing home  that has been purchased by a new   futuristic   company Management team  is  fantastic  Staff are the best to work with  and  the thoughts  of   the new  building in the next year  or two  is exciting.  The Home puts our  clients first  at every decision  Glad  I made the decision to work at PCCC

Management is trying to make things better in the facility. It is hard to do when you have people who have worked there for 30-plus years and fight every bit of change that is brought forward. God forbid they actually have to work!
Depending on the floor and who you work with will depend on if you will enjoy working there or not.

Always loved working at PCCC, thought I’d be working there for life. I worked each shift offered, and worked both floors. Never had issues with any residents or staff, only had ongoing issue with management. They were not understanding of schedule change/ needed time off.
