PSFDH a busy place to work. Everything from rehabilitation floor where people are re-taught how to live post stroke. Patience is required to allow ADLs to be performed one handed. Med/Surg, OR, Day Surgery, Clinics, Dialysis, obstetrics, ICU, Emerg, offer many areas to explore. Management is accessible and always willing to help. Scope of practice at the hospital is less than currently taught in school, however the hospital has over the past 2 years been increasing scope to include IV meds.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Proximity to home. Small and local

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Trying to fit in. This toxic workplace is very clicky. Manager is dishonest and frankly not a great manager

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic - always short staffed but they don’t want help

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working was fine- lots of walking, work was clearly identified by hours you worked

I have worked as a Registered Nurse at both Perth & Smiths Falls Hospital over last 15 years.  I have found it to be an excellent hospital to work.  Most employees are amazing to work with.  There have been several changes to management over last few years which has made it challenging in some aspects but overall a great place to work.

My work is very satisfying. My co workers are amazing human beings. 
The department is very busy the only downside to the place is the fact that management don’t listen to the staff 
Also it’s very difficult to work in an environment where your management is more concerned about the surgeons than they are about the nurses 

I do not feel stimulated in my workplace
The pay is poor for the job skills required
I can imagine that I would not be fired if I answered this honestly
The moral on the nursing unit is the lowest I've seen it in 14 years

I had a great experience during my 2 years at PSFDH. I had no complaints with the team of people I worked with. I learnt a lot from the experience and I am grateful for the connections I made. Staff is friendly, training was usually adequate and the atmosphere was usually positive.

Management in this department is horrible , the play favourites, and if u are liked it’s good if u aren’t u know it , management has destroyed this department! Most of the staff are wonderful, very toxic environment 

Seniors  with more security and seniority have authority over their unders and do not contribute to learning or improving the ability of  others skills  because everything is based on seniority not education or experience 

Very colaborative work atmosphere in a very carefully contructed enviroment. Use of every aspect of professional accuracy encouraged. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Typical day is registering patients for emerg visits/clinic amppts/paging /answering calls and transferring/admitting patients
mailing out emerg reports
public relations
