What I have learned in my experience at peter lougheed hospital is how to be a professional experienced health care aid in working with patients in the hospital while maintaining safety, patient confidentiality and effective communication in the health care aid scope of practice.
I enjoy the co-workers they were helpful and friendly.
I did not find any hard part at the job,I enjoyed every part of it.
The most enjoyable part was seeing patients happy after every shift and seeing them smile during their hospital stay.

co-workers: they all lived in the same house and spoke a different language than me, which made it an uncomfortable atmosphere

typical day: go to each patients room and see how they are doing, engage in conversation, help them out with anything they need, take care of children


what I learned: be patient with patients no matter what the circumstances, pay attention to detail since some people cannot participate in some activities

management: since i am a volunteer, most information about patients is enclosed but since we interact we need to know the basics of their conditions

I very much enjoy volunteering at the hospital. Each shift I get to communicate with new people and it has very much improved my social skills. It is very easy to manage volunteering with my daily life and in just a few months I have become very comfortable. The hardest part of the job is that I will no longer see people I have met during that shift; However the most fulfilling part is meeting new people and building memories.

My time at Peter Lougheed Hospital helped me learn how a workplace manages, I was working at the gift shop and I learned many essentials to help me in an bigger establishment. My coworkers and I got a long and I have met some of the most wonderful people while I volunteered. I also learned how to help customers pick out items they would like to get for themselves or loved ones.

We go around with other volunteers throughout specific units within the hospital and ask patients for help or hand them snacks, something to read and other activities. We also try start up a conversation too. The environment is great and its easy to get used too. The people like the staff, patients and fellow volunteers are kind and caring.

the most enjoyable part of the job is the breaks because the job is very much indeed hard, you cant fit it in an 8-hour shift, the pay does not equal the work.

I enjoyed working there the staff are very nice and easy to work with
and also learn so much working there. It's a big company to work for but they understand the need of their employees and their patients
