This company is the worst combination of poor local management and public Chinese company management.
There isn't clarity on company goals. 
There is' clarity on roles and responsibilities for employees. There is no possibility of career development is you are not Chinese.
The local manager that are still working in the company don't have any authority and their priority is to follow direction from the Chinese staff to remain in the company.

The people were amazing to work with and always conducted themselves at the highest level of commitment, The pace was horrendously fast and lots of last minute innitiatives and deadlines, this is typical in a startup environment. Another challenge was the need to reduce costs. This was so paramount that it held back progress.
It was satisfying to work with dedicated people with common goals and willing to work the challenges together

Competitive compensation and benefits.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Little employee loyalty, could get fired or laid off on a whim. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Poor. Too many managers and not enough support. Very vertical company. Ex-pat culture does not always mesh well with Canadian culture.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Work on various projects and reports (lots of reports).

This is a terrible company.  Do not apply for a job here. It claims to be a "real Canadian company" but it is 100% owned by the government of China. Management refuses to listen to employees that know what they are doing - the "exec" is comprised partially of Chinese government employees and the rest of them wouldn't make the C-Suite at any other oil and gas company in Calgary.

Every day was something new , no real typical work day with this type of job . I learned many new aspects of extraction facility / refinery operations . My management skills with this job improved due to lots of multi tasking on a daily basis . The job safety was the main workplace culture . The hardest part of the job entailed being out in the elements for extended periods . Managing the crew they provided was the best part of the job for me .

My project manager was excellent - very knowledgeable and supportive, and my project team was good to work with. The turnover in my department was a bit stressful, with three team leads in a six month period. Not really a fun place to be, very serious, however, I was treated with professionalism, which I appreciated. The nose-to-the-grindstone environment enabled a lot of work to get done.

Be prepared to have a target on your back and be unsupported. 
Culture is very dictatorship like. Coworkers are not your friends, they will throw you under the bus if needed.
Management is not supportive or encouraging. 
You are to follow procedures regardless if they make sense or not and make sure your hit your targets....otherwise the target is on you!!
Do not recommend this company. Much work is needed to change the dictatorship culture.
