A family run business that runs on manipulating workforce, taking advantage of staffs personal issues. A culture of exploiting employees for the benefit of Owner,  Sons, and a few racist folks within the family.
They don't hire for talent, skill, growth but for people who can be exploited and manipulated.

The work , business, opportunity itself can be a great place to learn if you take initiative - want to add real experience - however there is no room to grow and your successes wont be credited.
If you take a role - treat it as transient. Don't open up about your life as friendly as the owners seem. 

This company could do so much better and be so much bigger and their entire staff and workers could all benefit - but the culture is only about keeping 4 main people rich of the hard work of others.

I have the privilege of working at Philcos for a number of years now, and I can confidently say it's more than just a workplace—it's a second home. Here's why Philcos stands out:

Sexist and racist environment. Lots of nepitism- you won't get ahead. Good work is not rewarded and mistakes are told to the entire office. Management is a joke. They're just a family working to exploit others. The sons are extremely arrogant and spoiled. They will say there is no money for a Christmas bonus or to give employees any raises- meanwhile they'll buy a new porsche for themselves and take extravagant vacations. The work itself is interesting- but they keep losing good clients due to poor management. Good for a foot in the door, but don't stay long. They will speak in their language to those who understand and they will be making fun of you.

Understaffed. Do not have a dedicated Shipper/Receiver, expect you to be sales, receiver/shipper, freight cost calculator and inventory person. It is one of the worst jobs I've ever had. I used to go out and sit in my car to have my lunch until the bosses/owners has an issue with this and I was informed by the supervisor to not do that. Like no freedom in break time to enjoy my lunch quietly alone. Its my unpaid break, let me eat peacefully instead of crowded breakroom. Once I was even followed as I was using the bathroom by management. Watching me like a hawk, cant eat, cant go take a bathroom break and tossed around from one area to another constantly. Worst employer in Canada

Turnaround rate is extremely high due the craziness. Staffing agency who places candidates stopped full time roles due to high turnaround. Unorganized beyond belief! Too many personal politics, gossiping, micromanaging and less attention to how a company should be run, don't they care about making money?! Negative environment and cleaning is done twice a year except for garbage taken out and washrooms cleaned in the week. Work you to the bone, with many extra hours in the week and weekends. Cool industry and product however no room to grow because there are cliques.

Worst few months of my life. Should've seen red flags once they lowered my pay below minimum wage. Management is awful, and I recall them flaunting and laughing amongst each other about how some girl just got up and left after 4 hours. I can see why.
The older men and women here were very sincere, and management will most likely talk trash about you in their board room.
However there were some good days, you'd be better off finding a place with a more positive office attitude with room for growth.

If you're looking for a predictable 9-5 job, this isn't the place for you.  If you're looking for a challenge, looking to learn a lot, willing to do the work to keep up, you'll like it.  

There is a lot of work, the timelines can be very tight, and many situations are stressful, but it can teach you a lot about working together as a team.

Management is very direct, but fair.  You're honest with them, they'll be honest with you in return.

The most interesting and rewarding company I've worked for. Management is extremely open/fair and the team feels like a 2nd family to me.
Every day is different and the chance to work with big name brands helps me feel connected to customers at a retail level like never before.
If you're willing to work hard and put your faith in them, you will find success.

At Philcos I felt part of a family. It is a fast paced environment that requires you to be prepared for new and sometimes urgent tasks. It keeps the work exciting and challenging. Management and co-workers are always there to support you, help you grow and push you to excel at your job. I always felt valued and appreciated at Philcos - which is important wherever you decide to work!
