Phoenix Quality

Management barely trains you before placing you on a job. They briefly tell you what you are to do, then have to leave you telling you that they will be back to show you exactly how to the job but never come back, leaving you a deer in headlights on your first day. 
Management in general could be a lot better. Most of them have been there a long while and are set in their ways. Management gets away with things that you would be written up and suspended for. Managers also have their favourites. They give them the good jobs while others may get jerked around. They also have their favourites to pick on. Be prepared to get in trouble for ridiculous things, while others go unpunished for worse things. Management needs to listen to their employees more, rather than ignoring their needs which may lead to injuries or other issues. The company claims that mental health is a real issue and important, but I have seen coworkers ask to leave work for the day or just to take a short break to sort themselves out due to mental illness, and instead of treating these people with respect; they are laughed at to their face. Thats not how you treat people. If you have mental health issues, don’t expect to be able to “call in” due to mental health reasons. You will just have to say you are sick. The company holds everyones holiday pay for two weeks after the holiday because they want to make sure everyone showed up for work for the day before and after the holiday, rather then paying it out and decucting the pay of the two people who dont show up. 
Shifts run on two week rotations as that is how honda run. 

On the plus side, the people you work with are genuinely great people. The jobs are usually very easy just monotonous. Its the easiest most boring paycheque you will ever make. As an employee of a contactor for Honda, you do get the same deals on food as honda. Depending on what you eat you can eat for 3$-15$ a day with the average being around 6-8$ id say. Paycheques are weekly and there are two shutdowns a year in July and December.

I was with Phoenix for over a year and when I was with VOA it was great, I was a team lead and I advanced fast because I worked for it. When I had an injury, they moved me to Honda. Management at Honda had no clue what they were doing... I had to train the quality lead how to work the tablets for auditing. Auditing was my job, and I’m sorry but if you don’t know how to do your job and are questioning your staff and cornering them and giving them grief for something you don’t understand, then it’s time they replace you with someone else. The Alliston office staff are horrible and take advantage of people that have been there for years with loyal service and giving them minimal wage increases and don’t give you a choice if there is overtime or not. You get written up for the stupidest things, like forgetting your badge, questioning managers with things like processes will have you getting a warning for insubordination; as will refusing to answer personal, outside of work things like “how are you planning on getting to your destination, flying, driving?” Yea, I got written up for saying “how I chose to travel to my destination on my vacation is a question I don’t feel I need to answer”. 
Honda/Alliston location managers are horrible, insensitive, with cliques and will make anyone’s job miserable if they don’t like someone, I’ve seen it happen and heard them say “oh they need a bathroom break, let’s make them wait” and laugh about it. Or when someone is really struggling with a job, I would tell the managers (because quality auditors make sure the inspectors are okay in their jobs) that someone was in pain and needed to switch with someone else for a little while, they would say “oh well, sucks to be them” and leave them there all day and smirk at them when they were leaving. I always apologized to the inspectors and told them I was sorry and that I did tell them and tried to get them switched with someone else. They’re ignorant bullies. 

They need to get a meal swipe card like Honda and SPS associates have!!

The plant would run from Monday to Friday regularly but sometimes it would be open Saturday and Sunday for short a duration (about 4 or 5 hours). An average work day would begin at 6:30 am and finish at 4:30-5:00 pm. The night shift is from 5:00 pm to 4:00 but sometimes goes to 5:00 for overtime. Phoenix quality is a contract company that is used by Automodular for quality control and has no say on the hours of operation. If the Automodular workers want to stay for overtime (and get overtime pay), Phoenix must stay as well (overtime may not be possible at times, despite the same number of hours worked that night).
I learned at this job to be patient and to understand that sometimes a job doesn't have to be perfect, it can be 'just a job'.
The managers of Phoenix Quality, I have never met. I only had contact with the scheduling manager (who was not onsite) and my two supervisors (who were onsite). Both supervisors were competent however because of the easily misplaced nature of our time-slips, there were times when they would need to be reminded to sign or submit our time cards. Those time-slips were our only tangible way of proving we even worked.
This is not a social job. Because of the loud noise and the constant attention to detail every worker (both Automodular and Phoenix Quality), there is very little spoken interaction and most people wear noise cancelling headphones or earphones. Most everyone is pleasant but by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired and worn out.
The hardest part of the job was the hours and pretty much zero security in the knowledge that you would work the next day. there are no benefits to staying there, other than a (sometimes) steady pay cheque.
The most enjoyable part of the job was how easy it was most of the time

My position at Phoenix required daily cold calling to set presentation appointments, meeting clients, and potential clients. Account management and supervising employees on clients sites. proper Maintaining supplies and required documents in field, making recommendations as well as implementing policies when needed in order to improve efficiency for the client and also for Phoenix. Solely responsible for recruitment, onboarding, training, and coaching of all employees in my region. Document management of internal,proprietary and intellectual property of both Phoenix and all clients. 25% travel for sales presentations.

The most difficult task and responsibility I had was to maintain three shifts of dependable and trained staff for multiple sites. The most enjoyable part of my job was prospecting for new customers.

Diverse and ever changing environment in many manufacturing facilities,and constant maintenance of development and improvement to and for my workforce was very challenging and rewarding. I left with a wealth of experience and knowledge and many nnew business contacts and friends around the nation.

I would say this is a decent company to work for. As far as when I worked there, management was pretty good in the first few months working there but then it deteriorated and was all about micro-management. If you can handle a repetitive job, this is for you. The hours aren't great as it is hard to balance your work and personal life as it is in direct conflict. But you learn to keep your eyes open, be aware of your surroundings, co-ordinate with others in an extremely loud and chaotic environment because it is a factory you are working in. The enjoyable part of the job is probably the co-workers and working as a team.

The hourly wage is decent, management is good in terms of how friendly and approachable they are. Unfortunately a rare few of them due tend to not keep their word and wouldn't hesitate to throw you under the bus if it benefits them. So trust your gut if you find you can't trust them and don't be afraid to look for help in someone else who is also management.

Overall, its not a luxurious job and can be quite rough at times but its decent income and you learn a lot about the importance of quality and many other skills you will eventually acquire as you continue working for this company.

This place was horrible to work for.  New people given preference for hours over more senior staff.  Work shortages with promises to contact at a later date and they failed to contact, but when I returned they hired a lot of new people.  some shortage.

Management does not have any concept of how to treat people with respect and when training, well there is no training.  Everyone has a different method of doing something in you're reprimanded when a different person sees you not using their method.  

No respect for senior employees and no respect for people as human beings.  New students in charge of things and very clique place to work.

It was like the blind leading the blind and I saw one person very smart, new to Canada, could likely have gotten a much better job, but management seems to be working at a high school level.  She clashed asking simple, logical questions and ultimately left due to lack of courtesy and respect.  Most people are too smart for this job, but not the supervisors and management still there.

First off I would like to say this is a great place to work.

I found all of my coworkers and supervisors were excellent and helped me with everything I had asked of them and treated me as an equal. I never got the feeling that anyone felt they were better. If you have a problem they are always open to listening.

From the first day I worked I felt very welcomed. I was showed what was needed of me who everyone  I would need to report to was and where everything is. The training was very useful as long as you pay attention as anywhere you wont be successful if you don't pay attention yourself you can only be trained as good as you allow yourself to be.

If you do your job great and excel in your job there is a lot of room for growth. 

One thing I thought was great was that at most companies you would not see the owner on the floor working like you do here. HARD WORK AND DEDICATION. This company has a big heart.

Overall I would say as the training, communication and welcoming of this company would be five stars.

Absolutely terrible place to work, team leaders and management are abusive and have no place managing anything, let alone in a factory environment. Management will fail to train you and then make you feel like you are useless when you make a mistake! Team leaders will argue with eachother over who is going to train you which makes you feel unwelcomed and not part of the team. Work is repetitive and you are prone to injury. If you are working on the line you will need to hold it in until break when you can go to the restrooom. An older team leader harasses me every chance he gets aswell as many other people and when the site supervisor is confronted he did nothing to fix the problem. Don’t trust the reviews, i can assure you no associates are writing those and they are clearly being made my management!

A job where you come into work everyday never knowing what to expect. Mgmt constantly changed the rules and micromanaged every little detail about uniform, dress code and sign in and out policy. Our shifts were constantly starting earlier and ending later on top of the mandatory Saturdays. If you missed one day a week there would be no OT on your pay unless you went over 44 hours and if you worked a Sunday you would not get double-time.  

Feels more like a babysitting club than a job. A revolving door and lots of temps.

Progressive company focus on continuous improvement of processes and use of technology.  Opportunity for growth within the company.  Exciting platform to be in as they are developing their own software and identifying technologies to streamline workflow and hand this knowledge on to their clients.

Phoenix Quality its looking at the future and shaping the people and services with it.  Workers who want to work are growing with the company and it is exciting to see them doing it.
