Pinchin showed a positive shift in work life balance, you get summer hours on top of vacation hours, plus a healthy amount of sick time to use for medical appointments and sick leave. Healthcare coverage is alright. 
Due to higher turnover rate during Covid, advancement in position comes easy if you show your capabilities and willingness to take on more work. My team leader does not push us to do overtime, advocates for work/life balance and is quite reasonable with vacation requests. The opportunity to cross train with multiple disciplines is there, provided the other disciplines are swamped and need help with projects. Team numbers are on the smaller side, so having supportive members and open conversations on work load and mental health is key to having a strong team (which is present in Pinchin).
Due to high turnover rates, Project Managers and Discipline Leads tend to have a much higher workload and higher stress level overall. Work load is really high during peak seasons, due to smaller team size.



Pinchin is easily the most abusive company I have worked for. Prepare to be on the receiving end of gaslighting to the point you lose all confidence. Seniors are incompetent and pass the buck until it lands on on the lowest people. There is strong nepotism among the lifers who will mess up projects, go over budget, and then collaborate to sign over to junior project managers that end up taking the heat for the failure. I had projects signed over to me without permission that I never touched and were already over budget before I was hired, and then had to take the blame from senior client managers who asked me to request write-offs.  Even when you tell the accountants and client managers you had no real part in the project planning or field work, they refuse to even look at the facts and only care whose name is on the project. If you dare stand up for yourself, you get called out for not taking responsibility. It's clear that that the lifers are in pure self-preservation mode.

It wasn't uncommon to come to work and see people literally crying after taking abuse from their managers. The old boys club loves to play alpha around younger males.  If you are pretty young girl, they will give you a lot of slack.

•	Approve project setups in compliance with the Credit and Collections Policy
•	Complete project budgeting setups and monitor actuals to budget
•	Assist with and/or complete billing terms setups in compliance with proposals, fee worksheets, and contracts
•	Enter unit entries for lab sampling
•	Input ad hoc unit entries for invoicing purposes (internal equipment, mileage, per diems, lab sampling)
•	Coordinate and complete client invoicing in compliance with proposals, fee worksheets, and contracts
•	Maintain monthly worksheets for pre-billed items to ensure completeness of financial information and to support monthly review of revenue and gross margins
•	Review work in progress (WIP) reports for accuracy
•	Prepare project financial analyses and reports
•	Verify completeness of projects upon close

Pinchin Ltd. is a great place to learn and develop your skills with a variety of different projects, lots of overtime if you want it and an incredible group of experienced and talented people around you.  The hardest part of the job, is being flexible to constant change, whether it is work hours, project duration, travel outside of the lower mainland, assignments and employee expectations. The most enjoyable part of the job, there is a priority to have team building events and functions outside of work, staff lunches and lunch n' learn sessions available to all staff.  The management is very results oriented, values speed & creativity to complete projects.  If you are self-motivated, confident and the type of person to focus on benefits vs. difficulties, this is the place for you.

I enjoyed working for this company however I had issues with my own safety and management. I had the right to refuse work and I did due to the circumstances and was written up. Husband and wife managers which tag teamed you if in the wrong.

The work involved inspecting contractors in asbestos / mold removal and taking air samples and analyzing them.

Co-workers were great, local management was poor, working away from home under another manager was great and enjoyable.

For the most part my experience with Pinchin has been great. Work life balance is a constantly evolving thing with this company but I think that they are working towards making things better for staff on a national level. However, this is consulting work and as such, it can be really demanding when demands are high and new staff are being brought in. Consulting isn't for everyone. If you like constantly evolving problem solving and working with senior people to figure things out then this is a great place. If not, then it likely is not a good fit. As a junior staff person you stand to gain a lot of experience and information in a short period. Truly good staff do move up to higher roles.

Good place to work if your looking for a work life balance and make your own hours and control your own schedule. The culture in the office is great, very friendly staff.

Terrible for career driven people. i got 1 employee review in 2.5 years of working there and a $1.5 raise. despite working as much as i could and taking on as many projects as possible to stand out. complaints and concerns not taken seriously. A company ruined by terrible mid and upper managers. was told to find another job if i wanted a raise or promotion after 2 years of profitable service. so i did.

The work life balance could use a lot of improvement at Pinchin. Work is seen as more important than life. I do not think they understand that they pay low for an environmental consultant. I saw a lot of people get trained up, then leave for more money at another company. 
Some great people work there, but overall, I'd suggest looking for another company to work for.
Advancement does not come easy, and lots of overtime is seen as a "perk". 
On the plus side, there are a variety of projects to work on, and there is a possibility to learn, but it is likely that you will not advance quickly. A great place for someone that doesn't have aspirations.

- Annual increases of a mere 3% … maybe more if you’re lucky or fight hard enough for it. Or less if they don’t think you worked hard enough
- Depending which group you work for/who your reporting manager is really makes or breaks your experience

A typical day at work could include various tasks that would require me to act as an inspector, analyst, and consultant. I've learned how both offices and worksites operate as well as the various environmental management plans implemented during any and all construction projects. The management was friendly and usually very helpful. Every couple of weeks management would make lunch for everyone which was great. The toughest part of the job would be the frequent travel between worksites with short notification times. The most enjoyable part of the job was conducting Hazardous Materials Assessments.
