Pinery Provincial Park

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Pinery and especially as a gate attendant. It was a bit to get used to at the beginning using the system but is very easy after that. Everyone is friendly that works among you and easy to speak to, everyone becomes friends easily. 
You deal with campers, happy or not, all shift every shift so you should have some customer service experience to be able to handle the difficult situations with ease (there's always someone to call if not though which is relieving). 
The only cons are you pretty much have to be a student to get a chance of employment for a summer contract only and it could be higher pay. Also the shift work can be exhausting because you will work late shifts to 11pm or 12am.

Good place to gain experience in the workforce. Especially for students. Many students hired every year.  Good range of job types. Non student positions typically harder to come by. Lots of mandatory training every year and lots of rules and regulations to learn. Great place to work if your field of education is biology, natural environment, flora, fauna, etc. Worked with many great people who I continue to stay in touch with. Like any other large workplace sometimes it can be a bit cliquey and the different departments tend to silo themselves. But overall it is typically a good place to work. 

- with a few notable exceptions, the tenured staff at the park are lazy, incompetent, and overpaid.
- the overwhelming majority of work is handled by the team of underpaid student workers.
- the contract are specialized student positions, which would violate provincial employment regulations if Ontario Parks were not exempt from such legislation: vacation days cannot be earned, it is mandatory to work on Holiday Days when scheduled  WITHOUT premium pay. Similarly, no overtime premium is paid. Stat days are not earned. When you calculate these shortchanges, the wage is actually substantially less than minimum wage.

Working at the Pinery Parks Visitor Centre as a naturalist was a great experience for me. Each day it felt like there was a new project that we could work on individually as well as projects we completed as a team. The most enjoyable part of the job, while also being the hardest part of the job, was getting on stage in front of 1000 campers and putting on a play about the history of the park. Although sometimes the job could be very strenuous in these times, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment working with such a great group in an outstanding Provincial Park.

When I worked at Two Eagle my days always started at 1100 and ended at 1900. I would only work on the weekends so this wasn't very good for me as I was a high school student and wanted to socialize with friends, however i never complained and did enjoy my time with this company. When at work I would mainly stock the shelves and maintain the shops appearance performing basic duties such as sweeping/mopping and washing windows. I would also greet customers with a smile, polite attitude and occasionally watch the till and ring in customers.

I learned a lot during my time working at Pinery Park. I am thankfuly for the wonderful people I met and the customer service skills I have gained.

A group of very supportive supervisors who genuinely cared about you along with a large number of very welcoming and smart associates. The most enjoy able part of the job was the people, making day to day work so much easier. 

Overall most areas of the park are very relaxed environment to work in. There are several job opportunities for students at the Pinery for the summer.

Great options for summer students. Good training. Management was fair. 
You will not get a lot of weekends off though, but that comes with the job type.
