Their management is good. They want to know what they're doing wrong and are not rude. They really want you informed in safety and workplace environment.

All of the non-greenhorns are exceptionally knowledgeable in their craft to the point they talk about work even several hours after it ended. Plus, they're funny.

The problem comes with their horrendous ability to handle drama and misfortune. From power outages, storms, machine problems, soreness, etc; they whine and complain like the world is going to end. They are not hardened at all and that negativity drains the life out of you especially when it's aimed at you.

Other than that, the machines are complicated which poses a challenge in learning and the labour work is only hard for the unhardened worker.

If it wasn't for the gripes and lamenting, it would have been a good place to stay.

Pay is alrigt, you'll probably start off at 18-19$ an hr if youre a surveyor. With 2 years of school which makes it a joke. Better to get your Dz which is 10 weeks and start at 24-26$ an hr. Surveyors make up to 26$ an hr which is a joke. You'll likely be out of town all summer with having to drive up sundays without pay. They expect you to bend over backwards for them so they can sit in a comfy chair in their office. The training is extremely minimal. Expect to make about 22-28k a year which is extremely pathetic and they wont hire you year round unless youre the top of the top in your crew.

the equipment sucks the accommodations aren't great for out of town work which i was doing and the communication between the company and the employee doesn't exist but everyone hates it and you hate it together over time you feel as though your co-workers are like a family you don't like all of them but you look out for each other none the less 

Enjoyable place to work. Different jobs daily that I learned how to do and my co-workers were of different cultures who were also hard workers. 
We worked 12 hour shifts daily and we worked together as a team to get the job done. We worked in all weather conditions. 
Management was knowledgeable and helpful and I enjoyed every job I was given

No lunch 
Unorganized management 
No professional repairs done to machinery 
Just bubble gum and zip ties 
Unorganized scheduling 
Harassment 
Very Poorly maintained vehicles for workers to take out of town 
Needs more maintenance towards equipment 
Better benefits (vision care) 
Better out of town pay and vehicles to take out of town 

A typical day at work could consist of being yelled at multiple times, not being given proper tools for jobs thus making things unsafe alot of the times and your employer not providing proper work attire. No job security what so ever and if you think you can go to the union you cant, well unless you want it to get back to you because the union is ran by Pioneer.

I love the people I had worked with and learned alot along the way but I did not enjoy anything else there at all and the management is terrible.. and I won't even start with the horrible union that does nothing

Pioneer is very good company to work for As per are breathe equipment needs to be upgraded in order to keep up with the  future  New teck will wipe out old style pavers due to the ability to recycle product do to the large cost of materials and despoil and not to mention the transport of materials and costs to make them

i learned alot working for Pioneer-  working for this company encouraged me to want to work to the best of my ability- i also would like to take a heavy machinery operations course so i can have another notch on my belt 


Supervision is respectable and patient and puts Safety First, Its a great company to work for, Every year I get called back and every year has a new begining
