Pitt Meadows Plumbing & Mechanical Systems

Very good company to work for.
Unfortunately their biggest con is the leadership.
PMP management is very poorly handled.
There are ussually 5 or more foreman on any given site. The lack of proper communication us amazing. You will be given one direction from one leader, that  something else from another worker.
Even came across double standards where one worker could do a poor install, and I myself would be held to a different standard, a much greater standard.
Came across some managers that would insist you buy an expensive tool or even $200.00 pants at your own expense because it will somehow make you work faster.
But they would turn around and buy a worker they liked any crazy expensive tool or a tool they should have as lead, just "because"
Horribly micro managed. Sometimes 10 people would come up to the floor you were on to ask you a million questions, the same ones for each person coming up and than complain that you weren't going fast enough when they would waste 2 or 3 hours of your day just talking.

They love to put people I'll prepared for lead jobs and than watch them fail or even do well and give the hardest work to that same employee and than have them hand over all the hard & complicated stuff they solved to a different less caring worker.

When they did teach you they taught you well.
The company culture is overall pretty great. But there is a lot of slow, bad quality workers/workmanship in areas that it really counts where things will be seen by the customers.

How management can be and their general favoritism can be disgusting like letting some people go half a day early because they simply performed their job that any worker could of gotten done in the same amount of time if they actually worked.

A lot of slackers.

Some workers can just be downright rude and mean but it's tolerated when it's a man.

I got let go because people didn't like me even tho I got the general superintendent calling me for advice and were genuinely upset I got let go saying "you were the best worker and the only one working hard and doing good installs and who would answer my calls, I can't believe they fired you that was a mistake on their part

And on that last day the guy who took over from me got complimented for getting all this work done when it was myself who installed it all not his organizational skills or him installing them.

But loyalty and dedication doesn't matter here. 
If people don't like you they'll can you. But they'll keep equally unpleasant people but their male so what can you do?

I tried to get my job back I tried to re explain I was trying to deal with severe depression that they all knew about but than they all lied and said they never knew.

So that says a lot.

Great company if you don't care about quality workmanship and working with people who generally just don't care and can handle being constantly pushed by management.
If you get along with people your safe from being fired.


Feels like sweat shop factory work where you get stuck on same task with little lateral movement and low probability of progress. Workforce gets treated like an expendable commodity and you can expect to be yelled at and demeaned for not making borderline unrealistic deadlines. If you happen make them, your benchmark is shifted, more tasks added, tighter timelines, and higher expectations. Thereby constantly setting you up for failure which is driven by humiliation.

Apprentices routinely work unsupervised, rarely paired with journeymen, and receive little to no support in developing their craft - no mentoring, no training structure and no interest in building careers. Just ruthless labour exploitation 

Site management excels at dodging accountability. Instead of problem solving, blame is passed around like a hot potato until it lands on the most expendable installer or jnr team members. Scapegoating isn’t just commonplace, it’s part of the culture.

Only work here if you want burnout fast, have a masochistic streak or want to dabble in the regrets of your life choices...

I had an extremely negative experience during my time at this workplace. There were significant issues with management, including poor leadership and unprofessional behavior from lead hands. The work environment felt hostile and, at times, discriminatory, which made it difficult to feel respected or valued as an employee. This kind of culture is unacceptable and reflects badly on the organization. I hope steps are taken to address these problems to create a fair and inclusive workplace for all…
Management consistently underestimated employees, failing to recognize their skills or contributions. This created a demotivating and unproductive work environment. Additionally, I felt there was a lack of fairness and inclusion, which made the experience even more frustrating. I strongly recommend that the leadership reassess their practices to foster a culture of respect and appreciation for all team members 

PMP is a leader in the mechanical industry and is committed to innovation and advancement in the field.  The company works hard to live out the things it says matter including caring for their staff.  Career advancement, learning opportunities, pension, benefits, company retreats, swag, and other perks go along with competitive pay.  No company is perfect, but the owners and managers try hard to provide meaningful career opportunities for their employees, interesting work on exciting projects, and exposure to new technology in the field of mechanical construction.  There are roles in plumbing, welding, and other skilled trades, administration, fabrication, BIM, and much more.  This is a great place to build a career in the construction industry. 

I would not be where I am today if it I never knew Pitt Meadows Plumbing. The owners and high level management get what it means to be a family that works together and treats each other like family(I guess that depends on your family situation). Don’t get me wrong, being an apprentice is hard and sometimes is very challenging but learning on the job at any company is like that. If your looking for a company with any of the below attributes, pmp is for you.

I had a fairly negative experience with this company, saw many people in my first year of employment with them laid off without much reason given and many had been with the company for years. Lots of the people in management positions are from the owners family or married into the family and promoted, and they promote the company as a "family" when they have no qualms laying people off abruptly. The pay discrepancy between employees was also massive and shockingly low in some cases. I was "encouraged" not to ask what my co-workers salaries were and hinted at repercussions. Overall a big company that won't respect most of its employees and you will be treated as a number that can be discarded.

Started off feeling like a family but didn’t end that way. Lots of changes over the years and end up feeling like just a number and get pigeonholed into one area of a site even when opportunities for learning have been discussed. Challenges seemed constant with site completion timeframes and being told to complete floors faster without proper supports/supplies/staff in place. 

I worked at this company for nearly 5 years and was abruptly terminated without cause before Christmas. They state lack of work but remain hiring. I was responsible for training many apprentices who ultimately took over for me when I was terminated, I guess because they are cheaper. 

I've worked at Mechanical Contractors for my entire career and when I joined PMP in 2016 it was a leap of faith, but the grass is definitely greener at PMP! Since working here I've progressed my career to levels I didn't expect whilst being supported and allowed to fail and learn.

I've been blown away by the support they offer their employees and they continue to go above and beyond when it comes to benefits, company retreats, free swag and regular lunches for the site & shop teams.

I'd highly recommend PMP to anyone looking to have a long lasting career and the ability to progress into more senior roles.

Looking for a job in the middle of a pandemic can be an almost frightening experience but when the privilege of joining an amazing team like PMP is your reward, the decision is an easy one.  The accounting group is the best, but I could be a bit biased; in fact, the company as a whole is terrific.  From management to PM's and coordinators, to a production staff (both on-sites and in shop) second to none and everyone in between truly remarkable.  We are a dedicated company that know how to have fun at work.  We work hard, play hard and laugh a lot.
