Pizza 73

I signed up for Pizza 73 as a work-from-home Service Provider. The work involved taking pizza orders over the phone, working over the internet and transferring calls as necessary. The work itself was fine; it was even fun. Sometimes I'd have to deal with irate customers, but all in all, the job wasn't difficult to deal with.

The problem was wages. This job is commission-based and you are set up as an independent contractor, so you are paid piece work per call. Their classified ads state that home Service Providers can make between $12-14/hr if they work fast enough. However, this is simply not true. Even after I successfully kept my calls under two minutes and easily achieved the high-end speed goals they wanted me to hit, I only reached a peak wage of $8.80/hr, which is still far below minimum wage, and this was during the busiest time of the year when they were offering weekly bonus incentives on top of the normal rate.

The truth is, no matter how hard or fast you work,you will never, EVER, make the advertised wage of $12-14/hr, you will most likely hover around $7/hr. I received excellent monthly performance reviews from my managers that did not contain any suggestions on how to improve my speeds, and as far as I could tell I had effectively mastered the job, and yet I was still not receiving the advertised hourly target wage.

This is because those targets are fabricated in order to attract new Service Providers, as they have a high turnover rate. They obviously won't attract new workers if they state that you'll be making around $7/hr! I would even say they go so far as to say that their classified ads are in the realm of false advertising. 

The worst part is that they won't even provide you with a reference when you decide to leave the company. After six months of working there, despite consistently producing quality work and receiving excellent performance reviews, they simply would not grant me a reference and would not provide a reason why. I know they received my request but they deliberately ignored it multiple times.

Do yourself a favor and never work there, and remember that every time you order pizza from Pizza 73 you are supporting their unethical policy of paying their contractors less than minimum wage.

A typicaly day at work is doing stock, cleaing the store, throwing the garbage and deepfrying foods.

It taught me how to deal with the 'Rush Hour' fast and efficiently.

Co-workers were nice but majority of the time it was usually Indian people they hired which isn't bad but it did get frustrating that other people would come and apply but were more happy picking their own culture. 

Most enjoyable part of the job was when it was busy becuase i'd always have something to do. 

hardest part was when it got to busy and you'd need help.

Overall it was a good starting job, i WOULD come back to the Pizza 73 i worked at, only down side was they made me work alot of days/hrs because they would only have one person working on the deepfryer which meant i had no time to balance life outside of work along with being very biased on who they hired.


Working at a Pizza Place – Employee Review

Working at a pizza place can be a fast-paced but rewarding experience, especially if you're someone who enjoys teamwork and thrives in a busy environment. A typical shift involves a variety of tasks—from preparing ingredients and making pizzas to taking orders and handling customer service.

Pros:

Team Environment: You often work closely with coworkers, which builds a sense of camaraderie. It's easy to make friends and learn from others.

Fast-Paced: The time usually flies by during busy hours, especially on weekends or game nights.

Flexible Hours: Shifts are often available at different times of the day, making it a good option for students or those with other commitments.

Free or Discounted Food: One of the biggest perks is getting to enjoy pizza—either free during shifts or at a discount.

An average day at work was often busy and chaotic. Workers would be going back and fourth with orders and each person had a station to make things go smoother. I learned many quick ways to cut up different types of vegetables and how to properly roll dough. the management often was there til 8 pm making sure everyone had their break and had eaten their lunches/ suppers. I became good friends with most of my co-workers outside of work due to how friendly they had treated me my first few weeks working with them. The hardest part about he job was cutting onions. My eyes watered and stung for a long while after cutting and peeling red onions. The best thing about the job was creating each pizza and finding strange combinations I later was able to try myself.

As an employee of a family-owned franchise business, it is evident that the shop is inadequately managed, resulting in an improper distribution of employee duties. Consequently, some individuals, including myself, end up shouldering a heavier workload, while others contribute less. Despite these discrepancies, the quality of the final product remains commendable, mainly due to dedicated individuals like myself compensating for the deficiencies of others. However, it is disheartening that we are remunerated solely with the minimum wage, which falls short of providing a satisfactory income.

Pizza 73 creates an environment where you can hands-on learn experience in the food industry, however, that is all it is in the long run. Employees/coworkers have a tendency to quit after 1-2 weeks due to poor management (lack of empathy mainly) or the mention of wanting time off ends in your hours cut 50%. Perfect for part time, or if you’re in highschool, but if you’ve graduated; it’s safe to say try somewhere else. 

Monday to Wednesday is mostly slow.
Thursday becomes busy especially Fridays and Saturdays which are really busy. Sundays are generally slow but that day is a thorough cleaning day. Employers are friendly but sometimes they pay unfairly. Usually, there is a lady to help in times which are busy but sometimes even she is absent and you.ll be all on your own. There is no fixed time for leaving the store. Sometimes you'd leave at 10 pm and sometimes at 2 when the trains stop running.


Don't bother trying to make money here. The manager only views you as cogs that are easily replaced. Unless you're good friends with their family or directly related to someone who works there (Or the Manager) there's no equal anything. New people get razed almost all the time even if they didn't do anything at all. Favorites there too. I think the word I'm looking for is nepotism. Check yourself before you wreck yourself Sandi. Can't treat people the way you do and expect GOOD workers to stay and manage.

It was usually pretty busy at Pizza 73. we were always short on employee. new employee often came to work but never stayed for long. it was not a very stable work place. the hardest part for me in the job was to keep my calm, it was very hard because some employees were not doing their part in the job. example; they sometimes refused to do something, so i had to do it for them. this kind of issue happens a lot. the main reason I quit the job is because I wanted to get going with my career.
