A Typical working day starts with checking if there has been any issues our tasks not completed from the previous shift. After this displays are replenished from backstock after this orders for all departments are delivered organised and worked on to the shop floor. In the afternoon i compiled my order for the frozen dairy department and when needed the dry grocery department. reply to emails from venders and suppliers and dealing with distribution and customer service issues. Through out the day i gave excellent customer service as well as supervising team members with the focus to get the best out of each day while helping to make Planet Organic a fun place to work and shop.
I learned that always looking to the positives of every task is the best way to get the most out of the hardest days at work .
Management encouraged a community atmosphere always supporting staff that wished to progress and supporting staff that struggled.
My Co workers were excellent to work with we supported each other, when a team member was struggling team members from all departments were always willing to lend a hand. I became friends with all my co workers and they valued my skills and guidance and i learned alot from working with them all.
The hardest part of the job was organising deliverys as they come in during the winter months as -40 degree weather lead to lorries being delayed our arriving all at the same time . this was hard but with a great team to work with it was always possible deal with.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working with and guiding staff to reach our daily goals and provide a excellent service every day for the customers while keeping every team member positive.

This store used to be quaint and quirky. The ceiling leaked, the back room was crowded and no one ever really wanted to go to the bread room (which oddly never had any bread in it), but the culture was great. We had loyal customers, management wasn't the best but we had some space, and looking forward to seeing coworkers was the best part. 

Fast-forward to when new management came in. 

Like, the company culture was kind of in the process of sterilization and we could feel it from the jump. We relocated to a larger store, hired a whole bunch of people and it just kind of.. lost the feeling of home. Stocking up shelves became harder, we'd spend maybe hours in the freezer and everything was so spread apart that you'd hardly get to connect with your peers, help one another out or just enjoy each others company while working. If coworkers were working the same aisle, one would be relocated immediately even if there was no chatter involved. Management kind of hardened up and equipment failed on a regular basis. The hardest part of the job was the physical labour, the downright rude store manager and random hour cuts despite seniority. 
The best part of the job was the coworkers I knew and loved from the old store and the time flexibility from basically having no hours. When old friends left the store, so too did I. 

Avoid at all costs.

Assisted customers in finding the best supplements/food for their specific needs, ordered product, stocked shelves, and ensured department was consistanly organized and clean . Learned from fellow co-workers and customers, as well as regularly attending supplement trainings to learn more about new and changing product lines. The hardest part of the job was working alongside like minded people that had little appreciation for your strengths, and that were challanged with the understanding of their job description (didn't provide a welcoming environment for customers). Also, the hourly wage was a reflection of how undervalued the position was. Most enjoyable, and challenging part of the job was finding answers to new and unfamiliar health concerns, and successfully helping customers. A very nice culture to work in, in terms of living and embracing a holistic lifestyle. I loved that not only was there a great selection of natural supplements, but also a wide variety of food choices for customers specific needs. Management, (specifically in my department) was challenging. Very nice manager, but lacking in the ability to manage staff. Along with wage, partly why I chose to work part-time, even when full-time was offered.

This was an okay place to work when I started at the south location last year.  However, in the last five months, the morale at this store has taken a huge nosedive.  The Assistant Store Manager was almost single-handedly responsible for this with her negative cherry picking, harassing, and negatively exaggerating work behavior of those she didn't like, as well as behaving more like a dictator than a manager.  
As a result there was a huge amount of staff turnover in the last two months. 
The workday was usually quite busy, especially when our orders came in or when lunch or supper rush happened.  The most difficult part of the job was dealing with overly demanding customers, or getting as much as was expected with significantly less staff. The most enjoyable part of this job was dealing with our more pleasant customers, or being able to provide someone with the information that they were searching for.
Planet Organic Market has health benefits, but they inform you at the interview that you don't qualify for them until you've worked for them for a year.  The pay is slightly over minimum wage.

A very fun, awesome place to work when I started there. It had a great atmosphere and truly felt like everyone there was part of a family. Then it got bought out by a larger company. New management was brought in and everything started to crumble. It became very corporate and cold. The worst thing was that the management was incredibly untrained and had no human empathy. They made unnecessary purchases that caused 90% of the full-time staff to become part-time, even if they had worked there for several years, just to pay for these ridiculous purchases; they refused to listen to other staff unless they were a manager themselves; stopped the produce donations to the Food Bank and Hope Mission; treated lower staff unfairly (simply because they could); refused to give benefits to the staff that were legally entitled to them; had a general lack of caring (which was so bad customers were even noticing and complaining). I enjoyed the work that I did, and I met some amazing people, but the management was what ruined the job for me.

I absolutely loved working here, the environment and ambiance of this quaint organic market was a delight for customers and employees.
I learned so much about organic food I took my knowledge of organic food and incorporated it into my daily life style. working at planet organic changed my life.

there was nothing hard about this job, I love a challenge, the only challenging thing about this job was remembering new PLU codes for new/in season produce.
the most enjoyable part of this job was everything I learned about Organic food and Organic products on a daily basis! there was always something new to learn, also seeing my favourite customers and working with a really positive team made going to work a joy.

Count the till and make sure everything is okay, record any discrepancies, assist customers around the store at quiet times of the day, clean the cash area as well as the tables for customers, greet customers with a smile and talk about healthy eating and naturopathic remedies, bag for the customers and assist them with carrying their purchases to their car if necessary. The hardest part of the job was when customers had so many things to buy that the line would get very long and customers would start to get impatient if another cashier didn't come along quickly. However, I really enjoyed talking to the customers and I learned a LOT about health by working there.

The people that work here are great.  Some of the managers in the store are ok as well.
Upper management doesn't seem to understand how to run a successful business.  They will hold back on paying bills to suppliers in order to save money so they can expand and build more stores.  This doesn't make a lot of sense given that the new stores don't seem to have very good sales so far.  
If you cannot stock the shelves with products that customers want how are you supposed to make enough sales to justify opening even more stores?
Also given the prices of the product it seems as if the upper management has not tried shopping at competitors stores.  Everyone sells organic now and at a much more affordable price.
Sadly I don't see much of a future for this company anymore.

Was  a FANTASTIC place to work when i got hired almost 3 years ago. I loved my coworkers, the store and department managers, and i loved the customers! The part I did not like, were the CEOs of the company. The company had had issues with vendors before i was hired, and i slowly started to see more problems arise within the time i was there. 
The company LIES to their employees, and their customers. The shelves have gone bare, yet they STILL continues to tell us that "We are currently restructuring and will be back to normal soon." 
Myself, and almost every employee in the company were just temporarily laid off, and i do not predict it is temporary.
Like i said, the coworkers and store management are amazing people,and i wish i could work with them again.

Planet Organic is one of the preimere organic and healthy living stores in Canada. However recently they transitioned to a Canadian head office and installed a new CEO. While the company was in financial distress the new CEO made many changes to the structure of the company and unfortunatley deeply changed fundamental community and people related issues for the worse. Sadly this company is no longer what it once was, however hopefully it can come through its difficulties and become a leader once again not only in the organic and natural living segment but as a great and wholesome place to work for all of its employees.
