Play It Again Sports

I worked at two Play it Again Sports and I loved it. However, I also had a really cool manager at the time which would probably explain why. Besides that, Play it Again Sports is your average franchise business so every store will be run differently (which is the only reason why I rated it 4 stars). You work with both used and new equipment and I would only recommend if you have a strong passion for sports. To my knowledge they are mostly commonly looking for sales associates which is a minimum wage paying job: great for students! Even though it is a franchise, when buying used products, the buying process remains the same and some customers can tend to give you attitude when values are not what they expected. But besides that, most of the time you will be working with loyal customers who are great. It is a discount store so you will also be helping those who cannot otherwise afford sports equipment, afford it - which was part of why I had such a passion for working there. I would recommend those who are thick skinned and have positive customer service skills to apply for this job. 

A typical day would include dealing with multiple customers at once as well as making sure that a great level of customer service was given in each situation.
I took away many different aspects about the sports retail business, One of those being just how proficient I was at multi-tasking (Fixing sports equipment, cashing people out, giving product recommendations, and teaching the beginner in any sport what they would need to play as well as any near by league info.) As a sales rep you were responsible for many aspects of the store and making sure that everything was running smoothly.

Staff and management are very good, everyone is friendly and works well together.  Generally, a very good place to work.  In the summer months, the store isn't so busy, however, in the winter, the store is crazy packed.  Job security is certainly a concern if you haven't been a member for over a year and can't devote a minimum of 4-5 days a week.  As the store doesn't generate much during the summer months, they are forced to cut down hours and staff members.  The owner also is rather strict and tough and isn't always fair.  Overall, the team is solid and the job is relatively easy and fun.

The staff is a lot of fun and caring.  The customers are great to work with as well.  It is super fast paced during the winter (aka hockey season) and slows down almost to a hault during the summer months.  Time off is usually available to request, depending on how many people request the same times.  The downfall comes with the bosses. They are not supportive and also very demeaning. They do not have a problem with making you feel like you are a worthless employee, even a worthless person.  I would not recommend this place of employment to anyone.

A typical day at work for me would consist of different things. Some days we would be receiving a shipment that I had to help unpack. That took a fair amount to do but I was never left with nothing to do. I learned a lot, play it again sports was a great place for me because of my love for sports. Management was awesome. So nice to me and my coworkers every day. Hardest part of the job is the super busy days when you are running around trying to help customers.

I personally do really enjoy working at Play It Again Sports because of my passion for sports. Every day at work I get to share my knowledge and passion of sports. 
My co-workers are very king and sociable people, always very helpful and caring. Honestly the most enjoyable part of the job for me is helping someone find the perfect piece of equipment.

Great job to have as a student because of the flexible shifts, nice work environment and prioritize working on the weekend. During the winter season there is a lot of time intensive work to be done so you can get a lot of hours but during the summer its much easier but you will have fewer hours with less staff working any given shift.

This was my first real job, I loved dealing with the public and helping them with purchasing the product they needed. I became the top employee over seeing all job aspects.  My boss depended on me and I proved to him I was dedicated and reliable . I trained every employee hired and received good feed back from customers

At play it again you will face some of the busiest days and some of the slowest days of your career. There were times when I had about 5 customers to deal with at once, and other times where I wouldn't even see someone walk by for 4 hours. I was paid minimum wage which was 10.25 at the time, which was nice.

Working at play it again was not very pleasant the store was not clean and the basement where you would have to spend a majority of your shifts was full off black dust and what seemed like mold. Pay was minimal and employee discounts and treatment was lacklustre
