Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services

The toxic workplace environment that senior management created has been destroying this organization and demotivating its talent. Staff are issued verbal threats constantly and are reprimanded like in an elementary school. In the past year over 30 people left this company that has about 100 employees and the management still thinks it's people's fault?! This high turnover rate is a result of an inadequate leadership  who lack the knowledge and soft skills to run a Canadian workplace. It seems that the managemt is trying hard to undiversify the workplace that is very multicultural in its nature.  Jobs and promotions are given only to a certain group of people who come from a certain culture and staff are appaled  by nepotism and hiring/firing practices. Disrespectful interactions have become a norm here, ranging from frequent offensive or condescending communication such as talking down to staff or being rude to dissmissing and denying requests staff have in regards to attending their private urgent matters, such as caring for an ill family member or even attending funerals. Leaders, who have been constantly speaking negatively of each other or have been overly critical of another’s competency contribute immensly to this toxicity.  This workplace culture is extremely unpleasant and off-putting to new employees and recent graduates to the extent that they lose faith in non profit organizations due to their negative experience here. The recent third -party intervention,finally, speaks for itself! It has started in hope that this will help the hard working staff achieve equitable treatment and change these unbearable work conditions.

Do not bother applying for this job. They are always hiring and there is a new job posting every other week. It is very embarrassing because they cannot retain their employees. This organization has a high turnover rate.

First red flag was the interview process with HR and hiring manager. Both of them had really strong and difficult accents. When I asked them to repeat they would get frustrated. How can you assess an applicant when you have a language barrier yourself?

Second red flag was they gave me an offer on the spot. I told them I would think about it and declined after few days. The reviews are very telling of the organization and how they can’t retain their employees. The pay offer was very low, the job duties are very demanding and unrealistic for the salary provided. They even expect you to drive clients in your own personal car. In today’s climate I would not recommend that as anything can happen and next thing you know a claim is filed on your policy. 


Once of the worst places I've ever worked at. 
During my Interview process, I was asked to do a presentation as this role would have "Business Development" within it. What a waste of time; none of the actual companies ever asked me about the background; they were more interested in the gov't grant.
The program Manager out of the Etobicoke office is very mis-managed; and micromanages every little thing. He can't take criticism and when you ask for help; he's not interested. More interested in lining the pocket of himself and his Arabic friends within  Upper Management. 
Growing up within the Arabic culture; I can safely say that they don't like criticism, they don't like to spend money, nor will they take care of their employees. They'll disregard you the first chance they get. 

For an organization that is based on cultural diversity and acceptance the internal workings are complete opposite.  Unless your of a certain cultural background you can guarantee your not going anywhere and not part of the click.  They speak in foreign tongue amongst each other regardless of others around.  They say that the interview process is setup to be fair but there are plenty of “friends” that made it to the forefront and hired quickly.  Employee opinions are dismissed or ignored, some have privileges and some have nothing.  management are cold, rude, and ignorant HR mgr. is the worst. Very unorganized management, they talk bad about each other and make fun of others right in front of staff.     Run as fast as you can, turnaround rate is crazy high! 

On a positive note, the monetary aspects are competitive, reflecting the company's commitment to recognizing and rewarding hard work. However, the work environment falls short. There's a noticeable lack of concern for employee well-being beyond financial compensation, resulting in a high-pressure atmosphere. Work-life balance, despite being emphasized, is often compromised.

Communication within the company needs improvement. Decisions are made without clear explanations, leaving employees feeling out of the loop. The company culture appears cliquish, hindering the integration of new employees into existing team dynamics.

Very toxic and disorganized workplace environment resulting in a high turn over rate and that's why they are always hiring. 
Management and HR don't speak fluent English which results in miscommunication or poor communication.  There are no clear directions given to perform your role.
Management are not supportive at all.  The only positive aspect of the job is helping clients meet their goals. I highly recommend looking for work else where and don't even apply at this organization because you will be disappointed. 

My typical day at Policultural was challenging, full of fun, high work load, manageable, self directed  with the feeling of  working together  as part of a team.  Everyday I was learning new things that helped me serve my clients better. When I was at Ploycultural management was  good coach, good communicator, good listener and  had concern for team members'  well being and success. The work place culture is very positive, friendly and inviting. The most enjoyable part of the job was when I see the satisfaction of a client after receiving services that help make his/her life easier.

Management isn't the best, there's a noticeable bias in how decisions are made. Skills and experience don’t always seem to matter as much as personal connections. Sometimes, it feels like people are offered jobs just because they’re liked or happen to know the right person. It’s frustrating to see important roles handed out that way. Long-term contracts are pretty rare too; most people are kept on month-to-month contracts, which seems like a way to avoid offering benefits. The pay is decent, but it’s hard to rely on it for the long run.

 Created files for current students, putting personal information into designated forms
 Updated the existing students' files and maintained data properly and combining data from various sources to generate an accurate result
 Verified, updated and corrected source documents
 Entered data into a CRM database, answering the telephone as needed, and welcoming visitors to the 3363 Bloor St. W. office as needed
