Being very micro managed, no training program, extreme workload, not a fun place to work

Can be a toxic environment to work in, there is lack of trust & belittling from management

Very stressful with extreme workloads & very high expectations to complete it

This used to be a fantastic place to work and the company has completely changed. Unrealistic work loads. Not hiring enough staff. And horrible compensation. I do not recommend working here unless you want to be underpaid, underappreciated, overworked and possibly fired due to management just not liking you. This company does not care about the staff in the slightest. 

I enjoy working at Portage. Lots of changes but they are all good changes. Finally moving to a performance based culture where I am recognized and rewarded for the work I do. Change is hard for some people but I feel supported in those changes. Good pay and benefits as well.  The management cares about me as a person. Really like working here

Used to be a great place to work. Since restructuring, lay offs and unrealistic work loads are being put on those that are left. Staff is walking on egg shells thinking they are next for the chopping block. They are targeting the senior knowledgable staff and attempting intimidation tactics. I think they are trying to get these people to quit so they don’t need to pay pension. 

Great team, long term staff.  Support for insurance institute membership and classes. Other association support
Little opportunity for promotion or growth due to company size and overall structure. 

Many departments are hiring across the organization and offices. Their is a lot of room for advancement. The best part of working here is the people and Branch managers. 

REMOTE OFFICE 200 MILES FROM HEAD OFFICE. WORK. BY MYSLEF AT OWN PACE. RESPONSIBILITIES ARE GIVEN AND MONITORED. MANAGEMENT TOP NOTCH. WAGES ARE INDUSTRY STANDARDS MATCHED

Would recommend to work here. I don't really have anything contrary to say. The managers were nice, accomodating and knowledgeable. Enjoyed working with my teammates. Most people would kill for great work environment and bosses.

No micromanagement
Issues were that management didn't help you- left to fend for yourself.
Lots of oppurtunities for growth if you are a doer- attending seminars and constant learning about the new insurance legislations

Total support in all things relevant to job aspects. Encouraging and leading when working towards advancing career skills and knowledge. Believe in paying well for work well done.
