I believe I was able to bring many new ideas & innovations while working there.  The working atmosphere has taught me a lot about patience and kindness to earn the respect from the staff which can be challenging at times.  I was able to work at a good pace and upper management would never be angry and always looking for ways to innovate.  If you can accept people for who they are and how they are you will not have any problems working there.

I've been working at Potvin for over 10 years and would recommend this company to anyone. Potvin offers a culture of continuous improvement, where every member is encouraged to contribute ideas for enhancing our processes and efficiency. 

Beyond the job site, our workplace organizes activities that promote camaraderie and team building. Employees opinion matters. 

After working for Potvin Construction for almost 18 years, i would have to say that this workplace has been going down, fast, as Employee Morale, and job security goes. That being said, they do have year around work, in many aspects of the construction industry, from framing, to the finishing stage. Their products, are of good quality, i.e. Kitchens, Interior Trim, Siding, And framing.

I worked here for over a year, in my 15 years in the industry this was my worst experience by far.

There is no upper management guidance what so ever.  A lot of unqualified and inexperienced people making important decisions.  Very unorganized and reactive, then being proactive. 

Also, if you don’t speak French, move on.  I was forced to sit through many group meetings in French and was not accommodated, pretty sad in today’s times.

It is better if your first language is French.

They are honest with they're expectations and have a good sense of hunour. If they know that you are a hard worker you can joke around with them and relax.

If you have good handymen working for you they don't mind re-imbursing you for pizza and soft drinks on a Friday every now and then.

Worse company I have ever worked for.  Production is terrible. Shipping is terrible. Management a complete joke.  At one point I received 3 new finish carpenters with no experience and no tools.  So I had to provide my personal tools and train them while looking after 4 projects. Shop is constantly making errors and does not keep track of things.  Had to use my personal vehicle to run material on a daily basis. Gas allowance does not cover fuel used per week. 

you are shown to do a job, you do it, you get switched around cus people are sick one day and not the next. You lern to do most of everything in the shop. if you where not hired when the company opened, then you are a casual worker that will have a termination day from the day you start.

I got to learn a lot including trim check, installing shoe/base board, shelving, pre-fab linen closets, window casing, pre-hung doors, installing kitchen cabinets and more. 
Everyone i worked with was very friendly and always willing to help me learn new skills. 
The most enjoyable part of the job for me was being able to increase my skill set on a daily basis.

Office vs site office treated differently

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Putting out fires at sites with no help from management

almost every single plan(blue print) had multiple errors on them
material supply was very unorganized
they are trying to change with a system called clean six sigma but are very very stuck in there way and need a total over hall in attitude 
they are dependent on minto homes which means if minto slows a little they REALLY feel it
