So this is only regarding the Cambridge location...management is non existent. There are people that work in the office but no one is accountable for anything and no one manages anything. If anything ever goes south "management" throws you under the bus immediately rather then own up to their mistakes. Your pay wil get messed up its just a question of when and how many times. Your hours are all over the place so there's no stability. You can be at a customer's home and a tool could break that you need to complete the job and when calling head office they just tell you "to do the best you can"...if someone's paying for a service we shouldn't be pretending to do the job because we don't have proper equipment. If you work anywhere else besides the main branch in Cambridge you're essentially on your own. All the "satellite employees" have to print all their paper work out daily so if you don't have a printer you're forced to get one.  Regularly you'll be asked to operate unsafe vehicles (signals not working, e break not working etc). If you speak up about anything you're made to feel like an idiot. Oh and when they lose their paper work because of their faulty antiquated system they'll illegally withold your pay until you offer to involve the ministry of labour. Truly an abysmal place to work.

The shop location where we meet each morning is located along a skytrain route so it is easily accessible by transit or vehicle. I find management thorough when we go over work orders each morning and company vehicles and equipment are provided to us to take to each job. The owner is very nice and makes an effort to check in, as well as be on-site rather than delegating from above. Communication with the office staff is always organized and courteous. Competitive wages are available, as well as benefit packages. Most of the staff have been at the company for many years so there is a low turn over rate with employees and I feel that I learn alot on our jobs due to the company being smaller.

Decent pay,  at the time of hire it was $26/hr.

You'll be trained 1 on 1 for a month on site where you'll learn how to power up the truck, attach duct hoses, cut out holes in the furnace plenums and blow out the ducts. Work hour varies depending on how many houses are assigned each day. It can vary between 1-4 hours, it typically takes 2 hours at each house.

You'll be constantly with dust as expected, they provide the bare minimum for PPE such as a basic covid mask and cut resistant gloves. 

You'll be given a tool bag with drills, screwdrivers, sheet metal cutters and flashlight. But that comes with a cost, they will deduct $400 from your first pay cheque as a deposit. However, once you quit they'll give it back.

They had several different sectors to the company, and I worked independently servicing residential clients, providing duct cleaning and a basic furnace cleaning, no certification required than for HVAC, or any other types of systems.

Provides a decent work environment with an overall fair owner. The company is small, and leaves not much room for advancement. The acting manager has communication issues, and tasks he wants done can sometimes be misconstrued because of this issue.

Every week my cheque was short. Had to fight for them to pay me correctly everytime. Was told it was a "grey area" when I called in sick during Covid 19 and they shorted my hours for doing my part to stop the spread. Start times we never posted before 9pm or 10pm at night for the next day. On call Monday to Saturday but would only end up with 15 to 20 hrs of work. Suspiciously kept us all under the 75% of our wages that was covered by the government during Covid.

Co-workers were knowledgeable but didn't teach me a whole lot about the organization

The hardest part of the job was carrying large and heavy tools around in small places

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with good people

I was only with the company for 5 months before be fired without cause(which is common). i was told by one of the only people to make it more than a year working at this location that over the last here they had gone through over 300 employee's(the company only has about 25-30 when fully staffed). You dont know your start time until 7pm the night before. apply at your own risk.

Demand that you are ready to work 6 days a week but only guarantee 4 days of work. Days run long or cut short and you get no say. Management is not the kindest to employees. High turnover rate.

varying scheduele, expected to work weekends, hours are never concrete. Good but hard work, constantly changing. Your pay check is rarely the same because hours will fluctuate each week.
