Almost everyone in the office works all the time in fear of being fired for any minimal reason, because the company don't value even the best employees on the team, no matter how hard and well they work, they fire people without thinking twice for absurd reasons without exceptions. The managers are quite supportive and friendly, but they have no power over high leaders in decision-making, they don't know how to engage teams, and they don't have a culture of bringing people together and making them feel good in the work environment, they don't celebrate achievements, birthdays, and don't encourage people to be and do better as a individual and team. They pay 1.5 overtime, and give a raise 1x per year depending on your performance in your review with your manager, but the amount of work is overwhelming, people don't trust each other, they are extremely toxic, and disorganized when it comes to work procedures and training. HR does not have an open door policy, you do not feel welcome and everyone are afraid to approach them for anything needed. After working there for a while you will feel tired, lifeless and sick in a high-demand and unfriendly environment.

What is the best part of working at the company?
As a member of a trade union employed by Powerline Plus, I would highly recommend to candidates in my field that PLP is a great place to work

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Time crunches always exist but push is always there to get jobs done

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very good, have worked with different crews when the need arose and all have been great experiences

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
7-5 work day. Work hard but work safe. Always a good day

I felt good about joining this company and looked forward to being there a long time.
The problem I had was that when I was given instructions they were incomplete and as a result I did not performed the assignment 100%.
Then at the end of the 90 days I was let go without any reason for it.
I had not been given any corrective instructions of any kind.
I was left with the feeling that I was used to help them at a busy time then let go as it slows down for the winter.
But that is just what I think, I don't know why, no one would tell me.

From working there for 2 and a half years I can tell you that powerline is very disorganized, they do not want to pay with the amount that is asked of you, you do not just do one specific job there, I was stuck doing stuff not related to my job or job title. I was let go because of a bad back that I hurt at work on a job site, when I came back to work after I could move again, I was put on light duty and stuck working a 20 hour shift, which made it worse, after that I was let go even with all the appropriate doctors notes

The worst company you can work at. Bad management with childish behavior, they don't like you; they fire you.
I have seen employees who worked 8-10 years getting fired just because the management stopped liking them for silly reasons. There was this on instance when an employee was fired just because he/she didn't give away the cabin he/she was working for 3 years.

My duties were centered in the on-site warehouse and focused on accepting materials for jobs and issueing them out to work crews. 

The warehouse was a highly collaborative work environment which makes the fast pace manageable. Hours can be long at times depending on required material for the following day. 

My co-workers were great to work with and there are often work activities organized by employees. The benefits were also quite nice.

Ability to learn a lot if you’re willing to learn and put in the work.

Workload can be overwhelming at times.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company at the culture is work/deliverables first.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Primarily individual work with meetings periodically.

Puts workers in danger when cutting corners on a daily basis. Forman gossip about workers to other workers within the crew. Derogatory terms being thrown around on site. Over all very unprofessional. 


Get it done attitude even when putting staff in danger. These poor practices have clearly caught up to them with their overall safety record. This company needs major changes. 



- bad company culture - gossip, favouritism, no job security, lack of diversity, overall toxic environment 
- poor management - no leadership
- high employee turn over rate, no employee appreciation
- low ballers when it come to salary

My advise to anyone considering working for these guys is to do their homework and do some research on these guys, it will be very transparent what they are about.
