I wanted to share my own experience here, because the company’s public image doesn’t match what I’ve lived day to day.

My experience in a nutshell
When I first joined, older colleagues told me it used to be a great place to work. Unfortunately, since the new management team came in, everything has shifted to pure micromanagement and hitting KPIs. Numbers matter more than people, period.

What went wrong for me
Micromanagement & constant metrics: Every task—no matter how small—gets tracked and second-guessed. There’s zero room for initiative, and you’re judged strictly on dashboards.

Real pay is disappointing: Once you count all the unpaid extra hours, my effective hourly rate was actually lower than a many other locations

No pension for us: Oddly, the parent company in France gives its employees a pension plan, but those of us in Canada/USA get nothing.

“Gateway” for French transfers: It felt like our office mainly exists to bring staff over from France. That leaves limited growth opportunities for local hires.

Reputation cleanup: The Indeed reviews were so negative that the company quietly created a brand-new profile to bury the old ratings. You can still find both if you search.

A couple of positives
A handful of long-time coworkers are generous with their knowledge.
Working with an international team can be interesting.

Bottom line
If you don’t mind heavy oversight, long hours, and no pension, you might manage. Personally, the stress wasn’t worth the slim paycheque.

Poor company culture may not seem like a deal breaker, but it should be. Recently, we’ve seen a handful of examples where company culture has significantly handicapped public perception.  Even if a company’s poor culture hasn’t played out publicly, it can be bad for your career. It’s well known that a positive company culture can drive financial performance and a productive workforce. Therefore, a negative culture can do the exact opposite. Very bad work experience and at powersmiths. Bad Manager.

Work was easy but management is not worth it. Pay is not good want production of units but do not want to pay. Want to hit all production targets and make 400M + in a couple of months but want to pay employees $16.75 / hour for engineering and mechanical assembly jobs but do not want to pay for skill rather want you to work so hard for nothing.

Support , caring about their people, training

Multi tasks , deadlines, things come up at the last minute 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly, rewarding, learning environment to add more knowledge to your skills 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Tasks, meetings, coaching, work on a new improvement plan

No matter how desperate you are for a job, or how annoyed you may be at your current gig, there are some companies you’re better off not working for. Even if the money is good, the role seems irresistible, and even your friends say it’s worth a shot, accepting a role at a company can set your career back and even jeopardize your future success. Powersmiths is one such of a company.

I had a terrible experience with Powersmiths. The management was disorganized and unresponsive to my concerns. My requests and feedback were ignored, and when I finally got a hold of someone, they were rude and unhelpful. The company's products were of poor quality and did not work as advertised.

Micromanagement was introduced. Used to be a good company. Many Engineer left so put too much load on existing engineers to finish the projects. Did not hire new engineers. Forced google doc/sheet and slowed down the process. You have to record every minute. People will keep track of you often.

If I could work without stress

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Staff member  they come up against you for no reason at time and they are jealous of my speed and how I work

Company requires serious restructuring to work on clarity of tasks especially for newly hired engineers and needs to have a formal training program and technical review sessions periodically

i worked here for my secondary school co-op 2 credit course. I really enjoyed my time at POWERSMITHS. My co-workers and my boss helped me feel comfortable with the working environment.
