A ypical day at work consists of starting with a morning meeting then jumping on whatever piece of machine I am asked to. I have gained a lot of experience learning about steps in prepping and building a pad, highways and road ways as well as learning how to run and maintain each piece of equipment on site.  I also have gained knowledge about site specific safety as it applies to work around oil and gas live sites. As the job is coming to a close I am required to run all of the finishing equipment. The hardest part of my job is being away from my family and switching from days to nights. I really enjoy running the machines and getting to learn and gain experience with every machine as well as being given the freedom to work independently and help guide my co workers.

Prairie North is a good company to work for, particularly for those interested in road construction and (more recently) oilsand development.  The equipment is generally of newer make and well maintained, the supervisors are good people to work with, and many of my co-workers were (aside from the usual quirks that are expected among people of diverse backgrounds) quite fun to work with.

The foreman i mainly had was awesome you felt safe and comfortable in your job but once you meet the co-owner of the business he treats you as if you are completely replaceable and insults his staff often making them look for work elsewhere

I really enjoyed working with Prairie North Construction at Husky's Sunrise Energy Project. The management team was very professional and approachable and all the work performed was carried out in a safe and thorough manner.  I was impressed by the level of commitment to a strong safety culture.

I worked for prairie north as a Equipment operator on Husky Sunrise, an oil and gas plant about an hour or so North of Fort Mcmurray. I was primarily a spread cat and grader operator for road maintenance and well pads amongst the site. I also have extensive experience driving water truck, fuel truck, and operating hoes from 200 - 450 in size.

Good work company and good bosses and good work spirits company, that will help you grow up into the construction industry. They embraced all kind of nationality or race. They will teach you how to operate equipment if it’s first time being into a equipment or don’t know what to do , or what your duty are .

My first time working for Prairie North was in Fort McMurray sunrise site it was a very nice place to work. Then I worked for them in a different crew not as pleasant as the first time around my foreman was awesome thing went south when he left. 

Owner relishes in firing people, the only time I ever saw him smile was when he’d just fired someone or was about to. Management on sites are rude and not helpful at all plus most foremen are drunk or drug addicts, zero safety culture at all

A positive attitude helps, along with a willingness to learn. Days go by fast. There is nothing hard about the job. A typical day is long and hard. If you enjoy operating heavy equipment, this is the company for you.
