As always, amazing to work with the kids, but the School Division is tied in what they can offer because of Provincial and Federal funding. Because so many of the schools are rural and under capacity, many cuts are made and it puts stress on teachers to juggle all the balls in the air of teaching multiple courses at the same time in the same room, or several grades in one room with various learning capabilities and no assistant help.

I would start by getting a list of the duties for the shift, finding out where the supplies are. The staff and students are very nice and very helpful if i have any questions or concerns about my duties. i did learn how to work around the students without interfering with them doing their school work or activities, and still got my work done.  the hardest thing during the day would be trying to keep the multiple washrooms in the facility clean throughout the day.

Being micromanaged by the management.

Very cliquish and not an accepting company.

Driving a school bus morning and afternoon.

Lack of discipline goes unchecked

Toxic student interaction, unwelcoming staff.

Lack of support, uncommunicated expectation.

I was a bus driver for ten years.  It required a level of commitment to safety.  My loyalty was always to the kids.  I answered all parents questions and concerns.  I complied with every request from schools and the division.  The working conditions were hazardous being from southern Manitoba.  This job required a great level of patience and attentiveness.

This is not an easy job.  I go above and beyond what may job description is so that the students get everything they need to succeed.  Unfortunately my pay does not reflect the work I do.  EA are highly under paid.  We are also only paid for a 6 hour day and i often put in far more hours in a day than this.

Working in the School divisions and as a ABA tutor your day is never the same, you have good and bad days, but at the end of the day you have to always think about how much you are helping the Family and the child you are working with.

Typical day at work was very challenging. I have learned time management and the connection of a community. The management was always respectful. The hardest part of the job was to keep the dirt out.

Not supportive, pay is awful. No opportunity for advancement and benefits are poor. If you are ok with a high stress job with no recognition and low pay rates then this will work for you. I stayed because of my children. Ended up on stress leave after being harassed. Y colleague.
