if you love working machines & are interested in the music industry, then vinyl printing is great.
but, be prepared to deal with a lot of unfortunately frustrating management, a ton of stress, and pretty much mandatory overtime work late nights & weekends.

you probably won't have a problem with peers in pressing & quality, but mustendure a heavy dose of pressure and lack of basic human compassion from upper management. you definitely have to prove your dedication through basic professionalism (showing up on time, caring about product quality, interest in learning & improving), but might feel like its never enough for the production manager. 
if you have issues about safety, stress, or anything - prepare for a fight. direct supervisors are open and understand the pressures, having been press operators, but sales and the general production managers have no idea. i've seen a lot of people bullied out of their positions by absolutely terrible management or the sheer stress of performing to seemingly impossible expectations. 
being fairly new on the scene of vinyl pressing is no excuse for forcing workers into overtime, creating an environment of competition between press operators, or causing literal mental breakdowns in workers. simply unacceptable.

you'll meet a ton of really cool, interesting, and passionate people at this place, but none of them will stick around too long at such a poorly managed and uncomfortable work environment. seems more like comradery and solidarity through adversary than a true team oriented work place. 

and, don't dare mention unions or you'll be fired, and dont expect this place to change for you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Shipping at Precision is a great place to be if you are willing to work hard and adapt to situations as they develop throughout the day. The work load balances throughout the year with some periods being a breeze and others being very heavy. This job rewards diligence and being a true team player.

Being able to manage stress is a must. When everything is going according to plan, this job is a dream. However there have been occasions when the intensity of unforseen complications made me feel like the sky was falling.

Team Leads/ Management are easy to work with and can be very helpful and accommodating, as long as everyone is on the same page. Complications can arise if communication fails, but this is avoidable by being engaged with each department to understand the full scope of the given situation.

There is a long way to go for this company to reach it's true potential, but the steps are being taken to get there and the progress is undeniable. When you have constructive ideas for ways to improve or change current systems/procedures, they are listened to. The Team Lead for this department is open to suggestions to make things easier and smoother for everyone, and will always make sure everyone has what they need to be successful. If you ever need help, it is almost always available if you ask for it. For better or for worse, this job is what you make it.

I initially enjoyed my employment at Precision Record Pressing. My coworkers were great and I enjoyed coming in to work to talk to them everyday, even if the work was stressful at points. I was with the company for almost 2 years and in that time I got to see the toxic work environment moldering at the core of this company.

Management is 100% the issue. On a daily basis things would go wrong that could have and should have been fixed months ago, but simply were not due to neglect. In one case, the Quality Assurance department had been asking for something as basic as a light so we could check for defects. In one year we got strung along saying it was going to happen, but it never did, just like so many other things.

My supervisor demeaned coworkers as a joke behind their backs completely inappropriately. It was a hostile work environment that made literally everyone in the department anxious. She would change procedures on a weekly basis and not communicate them effectively, then get mad at us for not knowing. Upper management fosters this environment of fear and competition in an attempt to make everyone work harder, but it just makes everyone miserable.

Unless there is a radical shift in the way this company operates, don't work here. It's not worth it.

Team lead in packaging is not friendly at all. There was another woman who worked there just as bad. They made for a toxic environment. They definitely didn't expect the likes of me. Was not taking bullying at all. Stood right up to both of them. President of the company saw the way I was being treated and was truly shocked. I had only been there for 10 days. Told the president about the others that were bullied and quit since I started. Told him that I would walk too. Last straw was when I was hauled off the line by the supervisor because when I went in the lunch room before my shift started I turned on the light. Apparently turning on a light in the dark wasn't allowed because my team lead didn't want it on. Seriously?!? How messed is that?  Told the supervisor I didn't come to work to be with people that had a high school popularity mentality. Went to my locker and he told me I could go home for the rest of the shift. Seriously I only turned on a light so I could see. I told him to take his job a shove it.

I genuinely loved the work I was doing in my department, the co workers are lovely and the job is great but the management is an absolute right off. 

My supervisor was a bully who would constantly gaslight and and insult employees behind their to backs to other coworkers. Not to mention constantly threatening employees that they would be fired for very minor mistakes. Very petty and VERY unprofessional. When I went to HR about this explaining to them multiple times that this behaviour was effecting my anxiety nothing was really done and I was not called in for a follow up meeting. When I had a mental breakdown at work and took time off about halfway through my time off I received a letter of termination in the mail.... 

I am grateful that I got to be a part of this company for sometime because it was fun while it lasted but they have ALOT of growth to do and need to listen too and respect their employees well being.

The upper management at the packaging plant is horrible. Constantly micromanaging, very disorganized, and always putting the blame for a mistake on someone that didn't make the mistake. Rules that don't need to be changed are constantly changing, no wonder people keep messing up as there is no time to even get used to a new rule before it changes. The CEO is always on the workers, even approaching me when I was new (less than a week) and telling me that "that speed won't cut it." The warehouse is hot in the summer, and they only allowed heat breaks when the humidex was above a certain temperature (I believe 40c). 
On the bright side, the pay and benefits are good and there are some great coworkers and team leads. There is mandatory overtime on Saturdays where you get paid time and a half, but it is sometimes cancelled. 

The job itself was fun was I first started there. It was enjoyable and interesting to see the product start to finish. What was frustrating was that management and uppers made it seem like you could never do enough, what you did was never good enough. This company paid out of legalities when it comes to health and safety. They do not care for the environment or employees. Overtime is mandatory regardless of what you want to do with your weekends. They don’t care. You will be written up if you don’t show up to overtime shifts on Saturdays. If you don’t produce enough work they will write you up, even if the machine are down, which is no fault of the employee but the fault of no preventative maintenance. 

The work environment in Toronto is friendly, supportive and challenging. The office is open plan, with great natural light and pleasant to work in.

Managers are given responsibility and the autonomy to make decisions and shape their departments. The company is still a start-up so some processes can still be bureaucratic, but a genuine will to develop and evolve makes investing in the outcome more rewarding.

The company makes a concerted effort to ensure employees feel valued and taken care of and therefore team morale is strong.

The nature of the work is great. It’s a unique job that allows involvement in music production. However, management (specifically in the packaging department) needs to be greatly improved. There is no trust in employees, constant micromanagement, and terrible gate keeping of crucial information we need to succeed. The company chooses to hire externally for important positions when there is great talent inside to consider. They go as far as getting overlooked internal candidates to train external hires. It’s demeaning. Overall, interesting opportunity for a job, but lack of upward mobility and competent management. 

The worst part is all the micro management. The managers actually need to learn how to press records before trying to control every little thing going on. If they do that, maybe it would make their helicopter management more bearable. 

New employees were constantly compared to contracted employees from the czech republic with 25+ years of experience. Yes, we get it. They're better.

I think a lot of the issues stemmed from this company just beginning to operate. There are a lot of kinks to work out with something as big as Precision Record Pressing. I hope they get it all sorted out because it really was a cool job.
