I worked for PRS for years. I worked as a rep in field with both territory based work, and single location. I found the management to be very supportive and approachable. I am many occasions had a question or situation I was concerned about and I was always able to approach my manager without worry. Even his boss, and all the way up to  the directors I met, very personable and approachable. There wasn't anyone I feared in an unhealthy way. Even when I was at fault or made mistakes, I never felt uncomfortable speaking to my leadership. They do a lot of interesting and fun competitions and challenges to engage employees, add incentive, and keep us interesting. You could raise an issue, and it was genuinely heard. You never got "okay thanks for telling me", if they were going to shelf or pass on what you said they usually told you why where they were able. I found PRS to be as transparent as they could. 

There were times I put my name forward for a promotion, and did not get it. One, they even hired externally over me, but when I asked by, my direct manager explained why, and even gave me some wisdom going forward on how to improve for the next time. These were all valid reason I was not selected when I look back on it. The coaching, and feedback given to me was actually helpful, and I think my professional demeanor is better for it. 

My only criticism, is upper management needs to advocate better. I lost everything I worked for because of one company we worked with. There was no push for answers, there was no demand for justice. It was the first time I really felt like I didn't matter which was really disappointing after so many years. A little more effort to correct an issue the company admitted was not of my own doing would have made all the difference. 

Raises are hard to come by. I worked 5yrs, and didn't get a raise until the final year, when all long term staff got the same increase. 

Overall, I would recommend Premium Retail Services, and if the opportunity ever arose, I would go back in a heartbeat. I like the culture, the staff, management, and the environment they create and sustain. No employer is perfect, but compares to most, PRS does it right. They have figured it out. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
I cannot think of even one thing that makes this place a good work place.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything about this job is stress inducing, you're told one thing, they expected to do something esle and know more then what you were previously expected too. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment and culture - cold, Dysfunctional, negligent, Bureaucratical, unreliable. Unlawful. Not disability friendly. 

If Royal Canin reads this, I hope they realize all these things about the company they choose for representation. 

I worked for Premium between March 2025 and January 2026. When they reached out to tell me I'm "missing my mark" they told me I would shadow someone who's been in the company for a while.

So I shadowed that person for 3 hours. Which was an entire shift. That individual wasn't with the company for more than a week after the fact. 

But they went quiet for MONTHS. I had made serval attempts to speak to management on both ends. (PetSmart and premium) PetSmart had told me multiple times that they had talked to premium about having me come in at a different time. Because there's no customers when I was working.

Suddenly after working the holidays and being given extra shifts. They wanted to have a meeting. They were not forthcoming about the pip. They used the word evaluation. 

They said I had two weeks. Which looks great on paper, but given that those two weeks I only had two shifts. Which was A total of six hours. 

So I made the choice to leave. 

And now I found out that they issued my roe October 2025. Saying my last pay day was Sept 2025. 
When I tried to reach out it took more 2 weeks to get anywhere. I was sent to someone who wasn't with the company and then they had me email Acosta who never responded. 

When they reissued my ROE. Not only was end date still wrong. They used the previous ROE end date as the start date. That's not ok

Premium Retail Services allowed me to understand a side of employment hunting that I had not experienced in the past. A typical day at work would include: calling candidates that have applied for the Retail Merchandising positions posted on Indeed across Canada, interview/screen candidates to see if they meet the requirements of the job, and also hiring the candidates. I learned how to ask the right questions and how to look for candidates where there were harder regions to reach candidates. The workplace is definitely enjoyable and my colleagues were extremely helpful to me. Although I was under contract, they all treated me like part of the team, so they always made sure that any help that I needed, they provided. 
The hardest part of the job was trying to find candidates that resided in smaller regions. This is where your creativity had to come in to play. I enjoyed being a part of the team and I enjoyed succeeding in finding candidates in some of the smallest parts of the country. It was extremely rewarding!

During my experience in the service industry, I developed strong communication and problem-solving skills while consistently delivering high-quality customer service. In my current role delivering and installing medical equipment, I interact daily with clients who require patience, clarity, and reassurance. This experience has taught me the importance of empathy, active listening, and adapting my approach to each individual’s needs.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is being able to make a positive difference in someone’s day, especially when helping clients feel more comfortable and confident using essential equipment. I take pride in maintaining a professional attitude, staying organized, and ensuring every task is completed thoroughly and safely.
Overall, my experience has strengthened my ability to work independently, manage responsibilities efficiently, and provide a level of service that builds trust and satisfaction with every client interaction.

The job sounds ideal at first- $22/hr pay, part time, and you get to talk to people about their pets! However the reality is this job is far more stressful and toxic than you can imagine. Management is terrible- they give you very little training, especially on how to work their online interface, and then get mad at you or threaten to fire you if you don’t understand something or mess up because instructions were unclear. They give very little information on how to be successful with your in-store visits. Oftentimes, you receive packages with items inside with no instructions at all from management on what to do with them. You are very easily replaceable, especially if there is something that is a slight inconvenience to them. Additionally, once a year they have a day in which you have to work for 9+ hours in total for a base pay of $150. Would recommend avoiding this company.

A typical day working with Premium Retail Group requires you to be comfortable working in a fast pace environment, delivering quality customer service and having knowledge of the merchandise.

I have improved my customer service skills tremendously since being a part of this team as it has provided me with the opportunity to meet several different types of customers. My adaptability to suit the needs of each client is what I have improved most since my employment. 

The management of the company is incredible. I am acknowledged as a worker, have influence on my work schedule and am able to comfortably approach my managers when a problem presents itself. 

The hardest part of the job is dealing with difficult customers.

The most enjoyable part of the job is having the piece of mind that you are well supported by your co-workers.

Team Spirit: Despite being mostly field-based, the team maintains great communication, and there's a sense of camaraderie among reps.

If you are a Merchandiser looking for a new job, pass on Premium Retail Services. Yes they offer a decent wage, and yes they never really check the clock. Downside is there are no raises or promotions. Sort of like the land where time stood still. Where you can work your tail off, and management has no respect for you because you are just Merchandiser, just someone who helps them make sure that things run like clock work no matter how incompetent they are!

I was told that I would be taking care of one line of products, but ended up taking care of several. The pay is horrible and you get paid by the task completed in the store. There seems to always be a lack of work so you're cheque will vary from pay to pay. There is absolutely no support from managers. If you call with a question, you never hear back from them. Days can be long because they need a project to get done in an unrealistic time frame. And because you're paid piece work, you will have smaller cheques when you have to spend more time in a store.
