Most boiler operators can barely turn the boilers on and have no clue what to do. Constantly freezing up pipe and exchangers. None are properly qualified and legally should not be operating the 150-800 hp boilers.
How ABSA doesn't fine and charge them all is a mystery. They rip off operators by cutting day rates 20 percent and cancel bonuses. They play games and keep you waiting and waiting for work and string you along all winter until they need you for a few paltry weeks. Many of the operators fail drug tests over and over and like I said have no real boiler knowledge at all and boilers break down all the time and these operators go out with zero tools or supplies. 
Good luck trying to get steam time. They lie and then ignore you when you try to get your hours signed off. Probably because it was illegal to have you running a large high pressure boiler with only a cheesy oil well boiler ticket and they don't want a paper trail to ABSA. Stay away from these guys. Go to subzero boilers or polar or anybody else.

The Port Coquitlam branch is where I am employed. I’ve been in the mechanical industry for over 15 years. With prime boiler I have found a culture of safety, corporate team value based ideals, steady work, and learning opportunities. With a recent change in the company the deal has gotten sweeter with benefit and long term financial stability. I work for the service division as a technician but am able to see opportunities for growth and moving up in the company. The company values your time and keeps you home if you require staying close, but there is opportunity for remote work if desired.

It’s super hard to find a company that appreciates a technician like this place does.

I worked in the parts department, which started as a two man position. I was helping one other parts person. After about six months a Parts Manger was hired because the work load was so heavy. In April the junior parts person was let go and we were back to two people. In September, the Parts Manger quit and I was left alone to do the job of three parts people. The work was grueling and heavy. I received no help and constant criticism for working over-time and falling behind in my paperwork. After weeks of struggling to keep up, I was told to get my act together, I was then told to start looking for another job. I quit in October because of constant verbal and emotional abuse.

Upon starting with Prime Boiler Services in 2014 at a rate of $40/hour as a Boiler Technician, they decided to drop my wage to $32/hour before my 3-month probation period was over.  So I had to agree to the wage drop or find another job.  The management is mainly a bunch of family members of the owner. The worst management team I have ever encountered.  The co-workers seemed like a good bunch of people, however the attrition rate is very low there at Prime Boiler Services.  They go through a lot of people.  There were a few co-workers at the Red Deer main office that I did not care for.

Family owned business that care only about filling up another family members pocket. Most unorganized place I've ever worked at. Backstabbers and liars in the front office. The owners son will eventually run the building into the ground, karma will hit them. if your not family then your Eric's buddy. And if your not ericks buddy then u may as well be fired. I could honestly write a book on how unorganized this place is. The owner is great it's sad to see his business being ran into the dirt

lacking any obvious principle of organization. This company uses paper invoices. They struggled to get parts and organize themselves professionally, many of the employees are resentful of the management. The safety office is both over bearing and absent and is effectively causing prime to self sabotage the company and ostracize the employees. most of the senior technical employees don't have trades tickets, licenses or education. 
When I was hired here none of the things I verbally agreed to happened and instead I was lead on and then let go as soon as it slowed down. This was a waste of my time.


Ever since I joined the team at Prime Boiler Services, I have been treated with respect. I have been mentored by great people that want me to succeed.  I learn new things every day and feel like a valued part of the team.  The company is growing and it’s a great feeling to be a part of that growth!! It truly is the best job I’ve ever had!! I highly recommend working at Prime Boiler Services.  We need more talented people to strengthen the team!!  If you are a Boiler service technician with a class A gasfitter,  this is a great option!!  Thx

I feel excited to come  and work at a place which brings new people and new opportunities to experience and understand every individual and their needs. we learn so much form  everybody as all belong to different walks of life. 
Management: look for profitability and my Job is to ensure it.

I take my job a  hobby so i don't have any hard part except  when i make a mistake  on which i never thought of. 
the most enjoyable part of my job is when my internal or the external customer is happy

A typical day would be fulfilling the reorder report, receiving stock, running reports for management and fulfilling parts requests from service and rentals.  The people I worked with directly are amazing but senior management act like they're above everyone and talk down to you as if you have no value.  We all know the company is broke leaving everyone very uncomfortable and tension across the entire company.  I'm grateful not to be part of the company and have moved on.  My greatest regret is that I actually cared about the work I did. 

Amongst the lowest paying companies for Boiler Operators.
No overtime paid when you have to work over your 12 hour Shift. If you don't work over or ask for overtime pay they fire you.
Don't believe a word anyone in that Company says..if you hire on,what they say at Orientation might be changed at any time.If you don't like it,you get fired.
Beware of this Company.
