Lasted a month and a half. I came in wanting to put my best foot forward and drive myself to succeed in the position. I asked for feedback at the end of each of my shifts and told them not to sugar coat it for me. If I wasn't doing a good job at something TELL ME. Just before your first month ends they expect you to know the key features of every phone they have which is at least 25, all of their plans including cable, internet, and cell phones. Basically their entire system in and out and there's A LOT of stuff that they throw at you. Plus one of their systems they send you to a corporate location to learn over a week. This system I struggled with A LOT. Another location sent their trainee over within the first month of her training. They never sent me and I found out from the other girls they don't do it at my location until 3 months in. Management is an absolute joke and I found that shifts weren't very fair. Example if I (A trainee) is out there by myself everyone else is in the back texting, doing personal calls or talking amongst themselves. No ones there to make sure I'm giving the correct info to the customer when they're purchasing something worth 550.00 - 1500.00. It's embarrassing to say I don't know and pull someone from the back if they ask something I've never heard before. Management doesn't care if you have a customer insulting you on the phone when you're trying to get them the help they are asking for. Had one lady call me an idiot and pathetic because I told them what the manager told me then she asked to speak with the manager and all I got was 'take a message I'm in a meeting'. That 'meeting' was a social chat about nothing work-related and there was no indication she and the other employee were on break. 2 weeks before my employment ended the district manager was in to see how I felt like I was doing. I asked him POINT BLANK do I have anything to worry about because I had alarms going off. He said no. 2 weeks later I go in to start my shift and I get 'We're terminating your employment I'm not telling you why here's the name of our hr department and the extension for someone for you to call to find out why". The reason? It wasn't a good fit. Translation: You weren't performing to our standards so we're letting you go. Excuse me, I ASKED every day for feedback and they told me I was doing good. They lied to my face every day.

A typical day at work was usually pretty relaxed. It was slow paced. Depending on the traffic in the store, making sales can either be really good and hold lots of opportunity or there could be no opportunity at all. Either way you were constantly learning about new products or how to solve a new problem. 
 I learned a lot about how cell phones generally work and how to do basic trouble shooting. I also learned a lot about marketing and how competitive the cell phone industry can be.
 My manager was just new to her position. She has never managed a team before but she was very organized and there was just something about her that made you want to make her look good. She really brought out the team player in you. 
 The co- workers were very interesting. They had all worked together for a long time and kind of had their own bonds with each other. They were great at helping you and answering any questions you might have.
 The hardest part of the job is dealing with how slow it can be sometimes. Time can really drag on when there is no customers.
 The most enjoyable part of the job would be the feeling of accomplishment you get when you are making great sales and meeting your targets.

My experience with Prime was nothing short of amazing. This is an action-packed workplace where you will succeed by building relationships with your teammates and customers. No two days are the same, and you will be encouraged to actively troubleshoot issues and investigate customer backgrounds in order to find the right product or service for them. The hardest part of the job is the start, once you become familiar with how to do things and complete certain tasks then you're set. You do not need to have a substantial technological background but basic knowledge with cell phones and computers is definitely advantageous. Ongoing incentives drive excitement for sales and maintain the workplace dynamic. If you equate hard work with bigger paycheques, then this is the place to be. My coworkers made the experience that much more enjoyable, I appreciate having had the opportunity to work with such lively and likeminded individuals. Management is awesome and very accommodating, with the added bonus of scoring free lunches from time to time. Overall, my experience with this company was exceedingly amicable.

A typical day at work for Prime generally involved a sale or two, cleaning the store and training. I worked in a new location that did not have much (if any) marketing and we found it extremely challenging to come close to head offices sales goals. However, the team itself was wonderful and we worked together brilliantly and most of the other stores in our district were very helpful and friendly as well. The most enjoyable part of the job was the customer interaction and reaching or exceeding sales goals (when I trained in an established store) and the most difficult part of this job was literally just not having enough customers in a day to serve. Upper management was not overly supportive of the basic sales reps and I found that there were a lot of false and empty promises directed at myself and my team to encourage us accept the position with the company.  All in all, if the store I was hired to work in was busier, I would have been a happy employee.

The only training you receive is a corporate video with information not relevant to being a third party vendor. The management team is aggressive, ego driven, bottom line driven, and unempathetic. Staff have been told not to take harassment from customer's seriously and that they are "too sensitive". Regional managers site visit only occasionally to liase with managers and ignore day to day interactions with sales team. 

They tout that the average wages earned across the sales team is $18.00 (that includes store manager salaries to boost the claim) but without customers, you cannot make commission and with such high minimum targets for slow locations, employees almost always fall back on minimum wage for hours worked, despite still making a profit for their site. 

The individual store environment is toxic and aggressive, with employees often pitted against one another.

Prime Communications was a horrible work experience. It is a very cut throat environment to work in and commission is awful. Commission is based on a "trier" system which you have to sell a certain amount of units to get anything. However, your goals are sooo out of reach because they take the previous years numbers and multiply them by three. Which doesn't help when traffic is low at most locations. The benefits are awful, head office is not there for you when you need them, no job security and overall if you want to work with Rogers just work with Rogers and not a third party, you will regret it. They do not pay you enough for horrible clients you get and they do not care about their employees.

Working at Prime has been a great opportunity to learn diverse ways of selling and connecting. Prime has given me the chance to turn customer service into commerce, benefiting both the company and the customer. I had a great manager (and have since advanced in the company myself) who understood my goals and my life, which made everything so much easier. It motivated me to work hard—and by “work hard,” I really mean learning the products and engaging more with customers. Even when it comes to connecting with higher-ups—from the district manager to the senior DM and even all the way up to the top—everybody is very accessible and always willing to talk and support.

Really enjoyed working for Prime during my time there but always felt like there was no where to go, you basically just a sales rep until you find a new job. That being said, working from home/on the road was great. The freedom was awesome but management was almost too uninvolved. I maybe had a total of 20 one-on-ones with my manager over 2.5 years. Was constantly told that I would be given leads to no avail. The majority of the team has been in telecom for 10+ years and just maintain their clients but no one helps new employees grow their own client base.

Prime is an amazing company to work for. I have worked here for 8 years and I feel we are more of a family. My journey and growth here has been absolutely adventurous and rewarding. The room for growth and investment that is put into the staff is outstanding. The fun culture, incentives and reward is a great perk. From winning phones, gift cards to trips, over coming my fear of going on a plane for the first time! Prime is a great company to work for. From the promotions and personal growth. Prime is a great place to earn unlimited pay and the ability to write your own pay cheque.

Prime Communications is a reputable company. They have all the tools you need to succeed. They have a team of Senior Managers that will assist you to succeed. However the targets are constantly moving. One week its this and the next week its that. Even if it doesn't make you a ton of money. Commission is margin driven so half the time you are expected to close deals that do not make you money. Overall major flaw is the extremely low salary. There are positions out there for the same amount of work that start you at double the pay. There is a family feel to the team, and you are treated like an asset if you provide.
