Typical Day
-Answer all calls as receptionist, even calls staff put on hold because they didn't want to deal with them.
-Schedule driver pickups and full loads.
-Scheduled drivers
-punish employees for refusing unsafe work or calling in sick. (Instructed to not schedule drivers following sick days/refusal of Unsafe)
-Picking up materials from customers
-Unloading materials
-Loading materials

Culture
-No accountability for office staff who don't complete their own work, refused overtime for the person who stays and does the extra work, that needed to be completed by end of day.
-Driver are incredible people and undervalued

Management
-No HR to assist employees who have concerns for office staff/management
-Condescending
-Passive aggressive
-Micro managed

Hardest Part
-Dealing with management
-Scheduling the following days work and having management drop a full truck load on your plate at end of day, even though they had been in contact about the load for days prior, but neglected to forward email.

Most Enjoyed
-Running company when management was sick.


I loved working at Priority One Transport, as it was a family owned business.  There was an attention to and care for each employee, even by the owner of the company.  I was trained for a job in which I had no previous eperience, and I mastered it quickly.  They rehired me twice and I continued to receive training and responsibilities in different areas of accounts.  I loved working there, and the pay was great!

To many people making poor decisions.  No overtime pay, even when working on a holiday. Company management plays the federally regulated card for all drivers even after working 60 hrs a week still won't pay overtime. 

Started out a decent place to work then the GM was horrible over time. When he was fired things got better. Pay is less than most places hiring, management has an attitude sometimes. Safety officer doesn't keep track of certifications very well, many issues on sites with gate passes and such. 

Upper management tries to run every aspect (micro manage) dont trust anyone in lower postions walking on pins and needles all the time. Back stabbing is a big part of keeping your job. Sucking up works as well if thats you. Move on theres way better places. Also they manipulate time cards and log books for there own benifit.

Was a decent place to work at as long as you avoided management. my job ended here because I choose to not damage the truck and put it in the ditch safely but the owner would rather wanted me to make sure I had a claim and possibly hurt someone.

The position is described as full-time, but in practice, hours can be inconsistent. Work is often supplemented by an Edmonton-based team, which can reduce available hours locally. As a result, daily hours may average closer to 4–6 rather than a full 8-hour day.

They have been a very good company to work for. I would really like an opportunity to move back to the Ottawa Valley. As my family is growing and would like to be a part of that.

Working hours not consistent, wage decent, shop manager condescending to his staff, very family owned/orientated, and no job security. Owner is a pretty good guy. But management in place are pretty ignorant to the actual workers doing the grunt work.

this is one company that doesn't care about the workers . they make you work long hours with little pay. they go through workers like crazy there . You never got to know anybody there because no one ever stay there very long
