Prohibition

Prohibition is a  small Montreal based company in a complicated and oft-debated and stigmatized industry. Working here makes for a mix of challenging, eye-opening and ever constant learning opportunities. I work as a graphic designer and marketer, and being in the Cannabis industry in Quebec is tough.  I say this not as a knock on the company, but more as a reality check for anyone looking to work here. It isn't easy, it is challenging, (but what job is worth your time if it isn't?) You will also learn SOOOOO MUCH in a short period of time. Given the nature of the industry, it is always  changing and evolving, and being at the forefront of it, means that we have to be on our toes constantly. This makes for a quick paced and sometimes stressful experience, but like I mentioned above, the knowledge gained is worth it. 

The work is just continuous stocking, cleaning and selling. I learned absolutely nothing during my time here, other than up-selling. The management is very emotional and do not know how to speak to other human beings and treat you like garbage. Hardest part of the job is keeping the job, because you will do one thing wrong and they will drop you on your head. The whole crew is conniving and plotting between each other. The customers are disgusting and the lowest of low. The only enjoyable part of the job is the quietness and relative easiness of the job. Just make sure not to be absent, even for good reason, because the management is rookie level at most and will fire you, they do not care.

Look around to see any sold products in the store and if so to fill the gap that it brought. Had to learn all the products, how to use them and their pros and cons and to sell the customer the product that he desires most. Clean and mop the store to make sure it's welcoming for customers. Nice people but management is very disorganized, have trouble scheduling work hours, confuses work on when they work and twice didn't pay their employees on payday. The job is very simple and had no problem doing the work.

I make sure to build my team different. We are here to do our jobs with love and passion. 
We learn everyday, together. I love that we're in synch with our costumer, trying to get to know every needs. 

I've been working at Prohibition since 2019.
I'm proud of my progress in this company and I'm finally happy to go to work every morning. 

As a manager myself, my goal is to make sure that my team blossom as much as possible. 
We motivate each other, we listen to each other and we make each other laugh.

Working at Prohibition was a blast. Everyone there is so sweet and funny and really genuine people. It's almost impossible to hate working there, I learned so much about the products sold there. The management is the best, employees are the best. The only thing like any other customer service job, the only difficult part was dealing with the afternoon and night rush. If you're looking for a place to work that will treat you like an equal and just overall great place to be at, then I highly recommend applying here.

From a Retail & Merchandise perspective, there is so much you can learn while working at Prohibition. The industry is just starting to grow and they've been there from the beginning. I've personally learned a lot from working here. The atmosphere is relaxed, the people are like-minded and ambitious. Idea Sharing is encouraged, often times leading to initiatives being formed. If you want to learn something about branding & culture - this is the place for you. 

If you love the domain and are willing and ready to engage then this is the company for you! Great atmosphere to work in, great coworkers. It can be a slower paced job at times but if you are creative, driven, and resourceful it is an amazing experience! Upper management ready to listen to ideas when you have them! It can be a lot of knowledge to get to know but as you get it, it comes super easy!

Even tho there could be time where there’s no client for hours, prohibition is a place where you can make the difference in someone’s day by how you serve them! It’s a Toys r us for adult! I really enjoy chatting with the clients while helping them, and the list goes on. Yes it’s a lot of restocking job when there is no client but do you want your store to look pretty for clients or with a lot of holes in the displays.

Management sucks , one thing you do wrong and they start plotting on you. Have to smile all the time , cleaning , upselling and restocking is all you do , during cold time there’s barely customers so you have nothing to do but you still have to find a way to please the boss by finding random stuff.A lot of pressure for no reason. The good side are the customer(not always though) and the products.

Most of the tasks are repetitive and when there is a lack of customers (which happens often), they still expect you to be productive even when there is absolutely nothing to do. Sometimes I would go two straight hours without having any customers come into the store. They will also fire you without warning so beware.
