I have been with Promontory for the last 6 months, I have never worked for a company with poor management and a terrible work environment. 

Team Leads either have no AML experience or Management experience. Anyone could be a Team Lead at this place, no experience required. Team Leads don’t have time to approve any cases, they are approving timesheets or standing around talking. Analysts with AML experience are forced to take on their workload and approve their cases. They end up taking all the credits for the work those Analysts did. To top it off, they update their title on LinkedIn to Manager instead of Team Lead and lie about what they did.

QA team full of flirts. What do they do? Only god knows.

The environment is like a hostile. With the new changes to the team, everything is tracked. Starting from the time you get in to 10 mins break. 

If you have no AML/Managemnt experience, and knows how to to suck up, you will become the next Team Lead or Operations Manager.

I am not sure why Promontory would hire people with no people managing skills and their experience + knowledge in compliance and AML are not any better than the normal analyst working here. So good luck seeking for help and learning with your "team lead". Also this place is fill with micro managers, they track your break time, track when you go to washroom using a excel system called EDT. Very hostile working environment, with bad people managers. If I had to say one good thing about this place, then it the fact that its now under IBM so it looks good on your resume. Anything else I wouldn't recommend coming here.

The job usually entails straight forward easy work to get done if you have experience in the AML field. Flexible work times make it easier to manager your work-life balance. Job stability is shaky as it is project based as it is with most consulting companies. The building in the Markham office has free snacks, pool tables, table tennis, foos ball, a pin ball machine and a decent gym.

Promontory Financial Group was an IBM company. The collaboration with IBM extended the opportunity to mingle and work with many people from different backgrounds in IT, finance, banking and journalism. The company gave us excellent benefits, great pay. The venue has a fully-accessible gym. Free snacks.
Wonderful wonderful place of work

Very little support, no guidance, negative attitudes towards developing junior staff, fiddling on the margins in competitiveness. 

My direct supervisor was condescending, often absent, demanded perfection without providing guidance. Shortly after I left he was released, so perhaps the culture has changed since it was purchased by IBM.

The management here is inept on every level. They couldn't even drum up new business before one of the main contracts ended. The head of management is a clueless snake. Their location in Markham is a terrible commute. Do not work here if it all possible.

A good place to start your career. Management needs to be far sighted to get projects. Job culture is good but there is always insecurity. Company needs focus on getting business and not rely on one client.

The Team Leads make it a workplace that’s not friendly at all. No feedback or one on ones is provided with our work and they expect us to maintain unrealistic targets. Maybe if the Team Lead stops spending all day writing emails maybe we can have more feedback and career development.

Company could do more in choosing the right Managers with the right attitude towards colleagues or subordinates. Some existing Managers have made the environment very toxic to work.

No Job security because of the unprepared leadership
Good working conditions at first
flexible hours and good balance of family and work
But management needs to be improved.
