Providence Manor

I worked with elders with dementia, so each day was unique. All of the staff were professional and good to work with. 
I learned how to interact with elders who had dementia along with managing the behaviours that come with dementia, including angry outbursts; I also learned how to manage the violent outbursts and keep the clients safe. 
It was a great deal of fun because I was coming up with activities and health programs for those who most people thought were unable to do anything; I learned that even a person in a wheelchair, who had the use of only one arm, can join in the volleyball game.

I start at 700 to 300 everyday 
I work very hard to take care of my clients
They are of all ages and great people to take care of
The hardest part of the job was to fit into it 
There was alot of bulling from some staff on Montreal 5 but I also had some great co workers who made me fell great 
Taking care of people I love to do my heart goes out to all of them 
I learned alot from education and people who trained me there
Over the 4 yrs there I really enjoyed my job 
If it wasn't for the bulling I would of stayed there forever 
The most of the staff  was great to work with Thank to all

What is the best part of working at the company?
The residents are wonderful, most of the front line staff are caring and hardworking

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management is incompetent and abusive 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very stressful and unsupportive 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Too busy for breaks, never enough time for the residents or to get all the work done. Management hover and criticize but never offer support or help.

Have to say that the job is not worth it. Management is horrible. Can not speak with DOC as she’s never available for 1 on 1. I have to follow up multiple times for any requests made. Hours worked and are not properly paid, collective agreement isn’t followed by management.  Always working short staffed and shifts are not always trying to be filled by staffing. Most of the on floor staff is amazing and the residents are wonderful.

It would be a good place to work if senior staff and some experienced staff didnt treat you like badly, by bossing you around, refusing to work as a team, and treat you as if youre stupid and know nothing. Most dietary aides are rude as well when you ask them for anything. Some staff also spoil residents with certain requests and flip out when they cant have it. Very sickening place it drove me nutty!!

Horrible place to work with horrible management that don't care about their staff. No quality of care provided. High turnover of employees. Management takes the time to "investigate" all their good employees but let the lazy, incompetent employees pick up all the OT. They never follow seniority rules.
Incompetent management.

I really liked working with the elderly very much, for me it was a fun place to work. I feel that I only got to work there for 10 short years. It's the residents that I miss the most.

The atmosphere is extremely relaxed, friendly, and very welcoming. I enjoy the sense of pride in my achievements, despite being a volunteer, even if they are indeed as minor as saying "Hello" to a resident.

Aside from this, there is not much else of a review I am able to give.

I enjoy it very much when I first started and some people here nice and the hiring process was excellent training . But I find management has gone down hill and poor communication and organization is happening now. 

I love the residents and team I work with. The allocation of shared responsibilities are not unrealistic and continue to push for the best for the residents. Only reason I do not give 5 stars is due to the disconnect that can sometimes be seen between upper management and service providers.
