I enjoyed my five year tenure at the Tribunal. It challenged me at all times and required the adoption of new skills and work habits which were quite different than those employed in consulting which had been my previous job role.  

Adjudication required judgement, patience and detailed knowledge of planning law. It also required that you were respectful and firm with respect to witnesses and counsel alike to ensure timely and balanced hearing processes and outcomes. As you were the face or embodiment of the Province of Ontario you were expected to project a dignified and judicial presence at all times.

Decision writing demanded precision, balance and appropriately descriptive language to ensure a fair and understandable decision by laymen and experts alike. Above all, it must reflect the facts and statements forthcoming from the tribunal hearing. 

In my view,  good adjudication skills arise from a diverse background comprised of educational achievements  and experiences relating to previous careers. 

I learned a great deal about myself: specifically, what I initially lacked to be a good adjudicator and from that starting point, what I had to do to improve to reach the level I wanted to achieve.

The high availability required and the complexity of the various high availability systems

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work is stressful but they embrace people who strive to be successful

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day was different but started with a team meeting to review what needs to be done and document what got done including what didn't go right

During my tenure at the Province, I worked with wonderful people; learned about the Courts system and was able to travel to and from the office to the Courts; I attended before the Court Registrar representing the Province and found it very interesting because each file I worked with was different.

The hardest part of the job was having to evict tenants for non-payment of rent.

As long as the local management is on the same page and supportive of staff, the work environment will be pleasant. 
Also, having the understanding of who you're working for will help you to determine whether or not the job is for you. 

As an elected official it is exciting and rewarding to develop legislation and policies that have a positive impact on people across Ontario.

Hours are long and it was virtually impossible to develop a healthy work/life balance.

Wouldn't trade the time I spent at Queen's Park.  It was extraordinary.

Working in IT with the province was great. If you know more than the avg person and have motivation you will do well. There is a need for people that have current knowledge of IT architecture, powershell knowledge, python etc to do some automation. 

work was basically 24-7
had to continuously take Real estate related course.
Worked under one broker per agency.
workplace was a gossiped inter computational environment.
Privacy and holding lids on deals.
Selling very hard to sell real estate and which are High Ticket items.

Would like more hours only contract work wish it would last longer than 2 days
Had great training and good management to ask any questions about any problems that had to do with election issues.  Went smoothly and the night went well for everyone.

Must know the Act, Code policies and procedures at your fingertips.
Be able to work in diverse environments  construction, manufacturing, health care.  Has to to be firm but fair.

Nice to work with people with different backgrounds.
It is interesting to work as a supervisor.
All my team is very co-operative.
Some times it is hard to get things done in short time.
