Provincial Airlines

PAL is a company that makes a lot of money on its surveillance operations and then burns it all in their schedule (passenger) operations. The scheduling is a mess, no credit hours for being on reserve (12 hour reserve shift no less) and they expect you to bend over backwards for them while giving you nothing in return.

The employees are some of the best, most hard working people I've ever met in my life and management doesn't seem to notice how hard everyone works for them. The flight benefits/ health and dental are competitive, but they do not outweigh the poor management or atrocious work/life balance.

While working for PAL, do not expect any time to have a part time job. Being on reserve for 4 days in a row essentially means you have to be ready to go at a moment's notice 24/7 without getting any credit. They will deadhead you to a city and book indirect flights which result in you travelling for 10 hours and only credit you 4. They will not respect any crew rest period and will ask you to work multi-sector flights well over 14 hour days and expect you to report within 9 hours for the next shift.

They desperately need more crew schedulers and analysts to find which flights are worth the employees time. They do not listen to employee feedback and instead of making any REAL changes, will think that giving free pens to customers will win back business.

This company is run by people who used to be excellent in the industry, but now are so overrun they can't function on a daily basis.

I basically started off my work-term doing some research based on a contract that Provincial Airlines had gotten. I found the research very interesting and I had learned a lot about the client and where I was doing the research on. I have also had experience sitting in on interviews, reference checking, and follow up with potential employees. I enjoyed doing this because it is what I had learned in college and it was nice to be able to actually get some experience in this part of my field.

working with provincial airlines was a great job for me and others interested in the airline world, a lot of hands on work up close with aircraft's, includes loading and unloading cargo and baggage, marshaling in and out both provincial aircraft's and a the larger international company, national. this job is well paying and great hours, the staff at provincial airlines are amazing and never hesitated to help workers understand the work at hand fully before attempting the job. overall amazing company like no other.

Be prepared to have no life, the schedule only comes out weekly. This gives employees no chance to have a social life or even get to a doctors apt. The job environment is fun, and enjoyable. Be prepared to work early mornings and long nights. Although PAL makes up for it with their amazing benefits.

This job gives you an opportunity to learn more about the industry, while meeting new people on a daily basis. It teaches you how to handle most situations (hostile or easy going). Many options to keep the days from getting dull. There is room for growth with time, and there are definite perks to being a full time employee with Provincial.

Negative experience. Untrustworthy management, not to mention uneducated. New employees having more experience than management are kept on a tight rope. Difficult to fit in. Secretive and manipulative  management, especially in QA.

Great place to work, great team of guys. We did everything from interrior refurb to engine changes and heavy maintenance. We had a crew of on average 12 guys ans would work long hours but at the end of the day felt proud of what we had accomplished. Supportive management, pay was well and an overall positive work atmosphere. great place to work.

co -workers are great bunch, a lot to learn but it comes over time.  Big company, good benefits , flight passes.  Have to work hard to get noticed and learn a lot from the start. Training was good, still learning 8 months later. Lots of support from direct managers.

An overly managed and poorly run company that has grown fast and hasn't adjusted well to the rapid prosperity.  Employees are undervalued and money is spent wildly in some places and absolutely skimped in others.

Wages are significantly lower than industry standards and "time off" is not respected.

Although they believe their salary is competitive it isn't.  They treat their employees poorly, different standards for different employees.  Strickly driven on politics..I hope with the new company taking over, employees will be treated much better
